"Air conditioners, they won't disappear, right?" my aunt said.
The other day, I was having a meal with my aunt.
My aunt is a bit of an interesting person.
She's the type to suddenly say whatever is on her mind, and that day, while we were eating, she suddenly said this.
"Air conditioners... they won't disappear, right?"
She sounded somewhat anxious 😂
I wondered what had come over her so suddenly, but,
"Temperatures are only going up, and if they disappeared, it would be a matter of life and death, so I don't think they'll disappear."
I replied.
As the wife of an air conditioning contractor, I can say this with confidence.
Why she thought that
But I was curious, so I asked, "Why so suddenly?"
Then my aunt said this.
"Because, in this world, things we firmly believed would never disappear are just naturally vanishing one after another, right? Like TSUTAYA."

"TSUTAYA, of all things? 😂"
I couldn't help but laugh out loud.
But while laughing, I also thought I understood what she meant.
TSUTAYA (the video rental store)—back then, we all thought it would never disappear, didn't we?
Flip phones, photo shops, too—they disappeared before we knew it. (They still exist, of course, but they've shrunk compared to the Heisei era.)
The feeling that 'things we thought would never disappear' are just normally vanishing—I realized that for my aunt's generation, that's a pretty real anxiety.
And air conditioners were on that list 🤔
It was kind of surreal, but also a little cute, my aunt was 😂
"Air conditioners will be fine," I thought to myself.
At least, as long as my husband is still active in the business! ← That's what I want to believe.
Over the last dozen years or so, flip phones have turned into smartphones, video rentals have become subscriptions, and while owning a personal computer in an average household used to be rare, it's now become the norm.
Air conditioners don't just cool anymore; they have AI and motion sensors.
Looking back like that, while things have become more convenient,
the virtual world has become richer, while the real world has faded.
I really loved that Heisei era, which was a little inconvenient but also just a little bit convenient.
I wonder how many times I checked for new messages? 😂
I wonder what the future of air conditioning will be like? 🤔
Will machines keep getting smaller? Will installation become unnecessary?
Or maybe air conditioners will dock with projectors and speakers? 😂
It would be interesting to be able to watch movies while feeling the air, with the visuals and the breeze matched by AI, wouldn't it? 😂
It was a dinner party that left me with some indescribable feelings. 😂
Anyway, the next post is on Saturday! (I sometimes slack off 😭)
My younger brother has finally started wearing a cooling vest. 🌬️
My husband is still holding out, saying "It's too early!!!!!" and not wearing one yet. 😂
See you in the next article!
