Notes on Completely Free KDP Publishing
These are just notes for tachi_tatsu.
I'm sure there are other easier and better ways,
but I don't have the courage to change the procedures I'm used to...
I always struggle with the upload process, so I'm summarizing it here.
After all, I prefer vertical writing.
Drafting on my smartphone, I rely on
TATEditor.
Transfer to a PC synced with Google Drive.
For each chapter, long-press the chapter title -> Share text.
Save to Google Drive, then from there as a .txt file.
Use easy-to-understand numbering or something for the filename.
Sync from smartphone to PC.
Edit in Notepad on the desktop.
Right-click on the desktop -> New -> Text Document.
Enclose headings with half-width ##.
Leave one blank line after a heading.
For page breaks, insert many half-width ======.
Leave one blank line before and after page breaks.
To leave a blank line in the text, insert <br/> at the beginning of the line.
Combine into one book.
Convert to EPUB format.

Upload the .txt file.
Enter the title and author.
Change the page progression direction to Right to Left, Vertical writing.
Leave everything else as is.
No need for a preview.
Save the .epub file.
Cover
Canva: Incredibly, wonderfully
Search for Kindle.
Choose something that looks like a cover and replace the images and text.
Title font size: 200
Subtitle font size: 70
Author name font size: 86
Convert the finished image to 1600x2560 using a size conversion tool.
Filename should be [Work Title].cover.jpg
Finally, go to the KDP page.
Upload the .epub manuscript and the cover separately.
Preview here.
Decide on the book price.
Choose KDP Select.
Royalty is 70%.
It is usually published within 14 to 24 hours.
