What I really wanted to do was something I was already doing
I recently realized something.
What I really wanted to do was something I had actually been doing all along.
--It is to increase the number of people who can choose what is truly important for their own lives with their own power.
When put into words, it sounds a bit grand.
However, when I look back at everything I have done so far, it all leads to this.
The reason I named it 'A Way of Living That Is Like Me'
I have been running an online community called 'A Way of Living That Is Like Me' for over two years. Thinking about it now, I believe this name reflected my feelings exactly from the very beginning.
A place to think about 'How do I want to live?' instead of 'How should I live?'
Instead of applying general 'norms' or someone else's correct answers to your own life, you think about what is comfortable for you. What do you want to cherish? What do you want to let go of? You think about these things yourself and make your own choices.
At the time, I hadn't been able to put it into words like this yet.
I have always been 'choosing'
Looking back, I have always liked the act of 'choosing' since I was young.
Creating a room filled only with items I love.
Making photo books and scrapbooks.
From among many things,
'I like this'
'This is not for me'
I choose based on my own senses.
In my work, my relationships,
my possessions, my schedule,
and how I spend my money and time.
I keep asking myself, 'Is this actually necessary for my life?'
'Because everyone else is doing it'
'Because I've come this far'
'Because that's what is normal'
Instead of these reasons, I choose one by one, asking, 'Is this really important to me?'
It is a bit like tidying up.
The goal is not to throw away things you don't need, but to choose in order to properly keep what is important to you.
Actually, I myself was also looking for correct answers from others
I don't want to hand out a correct answer that says, 'If you do this, your life will go well.'
In fact, it is the opposite. I want to increase the number of people who can find for themselves what is important to them. People who can say, 'I want to do this,' instead of 'Because that's what's normal.'
But even I, who say such things, have struggled quite a bit in the past, wondering, 'What do I want to do from now on?'
Should I start a course? Should I start sharing content for an international audience? Should I start something new?
As I kept wavering like that, to be honest, there were times when I sought answers from others. I have taken expensive online business courses and tried coaching. I didn't want to fail, and I didn't want to take any detours.
I think I just wanted to jump onto the 'path to success' that someone else was showing me.
But as I struggled like that, it finally sank in that 'the right answer for me is something I have to find for myself.'
And looking back, everything I have done so far—sharing about my life and interior design, choosing my work and where to live, and creating an online community—was all connected to what I truly want to do.
To increase the number of people who find and choose what is truly important to them for themselves.
Yes, this is exactly what I truly want to do.
From now on, I want to continue choosing my own life, not by asking 'what can I add to make my life richer,' but by asking 'what is truly important to me in the first place?'
If even one more person sees that and thinks, 'I am allowed to choose my own life' or 'This is what a life that is true to me looks like,' then that would be wonderful.
I think that is what would make me the happiest.
