“Get rich quick” is an illusion. The only way for an ordinary person to achieve results
“1 million yen in the first month”
“Achieve 0 to 1 on the first day”
When I see words like that on social media,
I feel a stir deep in my chest.
The moment I see them, my heart feels restless.
While thinking, “Ugh, not again…,”
I also think this somewhere deep down.
“……Could it be that I could do it too?”
That’s how I ended up
trying my hand at various side hustles.
Blogging, YouTube, video editing….
I gave up on all of them halfway through,
and before I knew it, I was looking for the next “thing that looks like it will make money.”
But now, after continuing in the content business for a year,
I have finally realized something.
──It is impossible to “get rich quick” like that.
My heart compares things on its own
“Blogging is recommended!
You can create income in your spare time”
“You’ll see results in a month”
some YouTuber said.
So, I tried it.
“If I just do a little bit,
can’t I do it too?”
With that casual thought,
I started a blog.
Days when I got home late from work.
Nights when I fell asleep with my child.
Even when I sat in front of the PC, my brain wouldn’t work at all.
Even on days like that, I desperately wrote my blog.
Before I knew it, I had been updating it every day for a month.
But, I haven’t achieved a single yen in results.
Ignoring that situation,
posts like 'I earned 100,000 in my first month!'
or 'I've already surpassed my main income ^^'
keep flooding my social media feed.
I never intended to compare myself.
But my heart does it automatically.
'Maybe I don't have the talent.'
'Maybe it was impossible for me after all.'
And then, I quietly close the browser.
As the state of not seeing results continues,
'I don't feel motivated today.'
'It won't change anything if I skip one day anyway.'
'I'll write tomorrow.'
I make excuses like that and slack off.
The next day, and the day after that...
Gradually, I stop being afraid of slacking off.
And by the time two months have passed,
my blog updates have completely stopped.
What is the greatest weapon of an ordinary person?
But after trying my hand at various side hustles and failing,
I finally realized something.
The flashy successes that flood social media are
the stories of 'just a handful'—no,
'just a pinch' of people.
People with talent. People who were lucky.
People who have plenty of time.
Those kinds of people get results in a short period.
But, it's impossible for an ordinary person like me.
That is precisely why
there was only one path left for me.
'To keep going without giving up.'
That alone is the weapon of an ordinary person.
When I realized this,
I felt like I had finally saved myself.
Even when I see posts on social media saying '1 million in the first month!',
my heart no longer feels unsettled.
'Yeah, yeah, that's for you,'
I've become able to brush it off lightly.
This mindset is incredibly strong.
It doesn't waver. It doesn't panic. It doesn't quit.
People who think they can 'earn 1 million in one month'
try it for a little bit, and if they don't see results, they quit immediately.
However, people who think, "I have to keep at it steadily for about a year,"
can continue silently
even if they don't see results.
Personally, it took me half a year
to get satisfactory results in the content business.
It doesn't have to be every day, but I "didn't quit."
That accumulation gradually built up trust.
Now I understand clearly.
Most successful people are those who didn't quit.
Those who can keep going are the ones who win in the end.
So as not to betray your future self
There is no need to rush.
30 minutes a day is enough.
If you don't make progress today, you can just start again tomorrow.
Let's be "people who didn't quit" rather than "people who tried a little and failed."
Those who continue, win.
It really is that simple.
Even if no one is watching,
even if no one is praising you,
the days you have walked
are definitely becoming your strength.
Believing that,
I open my computer again today.
So as not to betray my future self.
I want you, too, to make the choice to "continue," starting right here and now.
