Desert Island Life Lucky Bag | Weekly Short-Short Note
――I'm bored.
It's the 10th day of my desert island life, and I've already reached my limit. Just thinking about having to spend another 355 days here makes me feel like I'm going crazy.
――I really should have skipped this.
I dive into the big bed and let out a sigh.
At the local Marukawa Store, they were selling lucky bags for 100 yen. I bought one on impulse, and inside were nothing but things that, if I'm being honest, were as good as trash: dish soap, plastic wrap, wet wipes, paper cups, and so on.
But there was one thing in there that caught my eye.
"One Year of Desert Island Life"
When I asked the clerk, they said, "You'll live in a state-of-the-art smart home with unlimited electricity, water, and internet. We'll provide everything you need. Of course, you'll have full cell phone reception."
Working at a super exploitative company with a 34-hour workday, I quit in two seconds and decided to enjoy an elegant life on a desert island.
And this is the result.
――Maybe I'll go for a walk.
I stepped outside and walked a little, when I heard something from far away.
――Hmm? A helicopter?
Three men in camouflage gear got off the helicopter that had landed in front of my house and started walking toward me. As I stood there, stunned with my mouth open, a man who looked like the leader and seemed a bit older stepped forward.
“Are you... Japanese?”
“Yes?”
“I asked if you are Japanese.”
“Yes, I am, but...”
The man opened his eyes wide in surprise and started whispering to the other two men.
“Um, what is this? Is this Self-Defense Force training?”
The three of them stopped talking and looked at me, and the man from before asked again.
“How long have you been here?”
“Since 10 days ago...”
“10 days ago? What on earth are you talking about?”
“Huh? I'm talking about 2024...”
When I explained the situation, the three men froze.
"Listen carefully. It is now 2061."
"Um, I've had enough of this prank show, so could you please let me go home now?"
"Go home? To where?"
"Kanagawa."
"Ah, KN19 District."
"K's... what?"
My frustration grew toward the man who kept spouting nonsense.
"I'm afraid the country of Japan no longer exists. The former Japan has become the 'Japan Autonomous Region'."
"I see. Anyway, could you please let me ride that helicopter?"
"Very well. We depart in two minutes."
—What a terrible act.
I returned home, grabbed my luggage, and boarded the Self-Defense Force (or so I assume) helicopter.
"Please take me to Kanagawa."
When I said that, the man who seemed to be the leader shouted to the pilot, "KN19 District."
After landing in Kanagawa, or rather, "KN19 District," I would later be drafted into the Five Continent War.
to be continued...
I am participating in Tarahakani-san's project, "Weekly Short Short Note."
This week's theme is "Desert Island Life Lucky Bag."
This content is just "what on earth is this," isn't it...
It's the common trope where the protagonist wakes up in a hospital and the doctor prefaces it with, "Are you ready? Please listen calmly."
Oh, by the way, it won't continue. (゚∀゚)
Please check this out as well.
