[Beauty Information] About the stages of perfume fragrance
Hello everyone.
This is [Kansai Total Beauty Lab].
Well, this time we are talking about perfume again.
Last time, I wrote an article about the strength of perfume fragrances.
This time, I will talk about the stages of perfume fragrance.
If you have ever bought perfume, you have probably heard of this before.
The stages of fragrance are
top notes
middle notes
last notes
divided into these three.
You might have bought a perfume after trying it at a store, but
when you actually wear it, the scent is different from what you expected!
That happens, doesn't it?
Actually, that is because the scent changes between the top, middle, and last notes.
What you smell when trying it at a store is the "top note".
So, which stage of fragrance should you look for when choosing?
I will talk about that as well.
To begin with, the reason why the fragrance is divided into stages is because
depending on the ingredients, the scents evaporate in order from the most volatile.
Now, let's move on to the stages of fragrance.
❀ Top Note: The first impression of the fragrance
This refers to the scent you smell immediately after applying the perfume.
Since alcohol components like ethanol evaporate quickly,
some people may feel it has a "sharp scent."
It evaporates shortly after applying the perfume, so the duration of the scent is short.
Depending on the type of perfume and the fragrance content, it lasts for approximately10 to 15 minutes.
As I mentioned earlier, this top note is the strongest when you try it at a store.
✿ Middle Note: The heart of the fragrance
This middle note is the scent that lasts the longest while wearing the perfume.
It is also called the body of the perfume.
This middle note begins to emerge when the top note starts to fade.
It starts to emerge approximately 30 minutes after applying the perfume.
The duration depends on the strength and content of the fragrance, but it is roughly about 3 to 6 hours.
From there, the scent gradually fades, and it transitions to the last note, which I will introduce next.
When buying perfume, choosing based on the middle note, which lasts the longest, will help you avoid mistakes.
❀ Last Note: The lingering scent of perfume
When the middle note begins to fade, this last note starts to scent slowly, as if leaving a lingering impression.
The last note often uses scents that are soft and gentle, or
those with high fragrance retention.
Woody scents and animal-derived fragrances fall into this category.
Specific examples include cedar, sandalwood, vanilla, and musk.
Depending on the product, some of these scents can last for more than 24 hours, so
if you want to enjoy the perfume's scent until the very end, you might want to pay attention to the last note as well.
How was it?
I think you have been able to learn a little more about perfume.
By the way, the reason it is said that "it is good to apply perfume about 30 minutes before going out" is because
the sharp scent of the top note disappears, and
the scent that is the body of the perfume just begins to emerge.
I hope you all learn about these stages of fragrance and find your favorite perfume.
I would also like to introduce my recommended perfumes if I have the chance.
If you have any recommended perfumes, please let me know in the comments.
In the next article about perfume,
I plan to write about "types of fragrances."
Thank you for reading this far again.
I would be happy if you read the next article as well.
