It's okay to have days where you do nothing
On days when I couldn't do anything, I sometimes blame myself.
⸻
I didn't make any progress today.
I couldn't do anything productive.
⸻
Don't you have days where you feel down thinking like that?
⸻
I used to think somewhere deep down that I had no value unless I was doing something.
⸻
That's why I felt anxious even when I was resting, and on days when I couldn't do anything, I thought I was useless.
⸻
But in reality, no one can keep running forever.
⸻
Both the mind and body need time to properly rest.
⸻
And yet, I kept driving myself, telling myself I had to work harder.
⸻
But then, I suddenly thought about it.
⸻
Is a day where you do nothing really that bad?
⸻
Even if it looks like you aren't doing anything, your mind and body are trying to recover.
⸻
There is meaning even in the time when it looks like you are standing still.
⸻
In fact, it is precisely because there is time where you do nothing that you can sometimes move forward again.
⸻
Little by little, I've come to value being able to rest properly more than constantly working hard.
⸻
It's okay to have days where you can't do anything. It's okay to have days where you don't feel motivated.
⸻
Even if you have days like that, your value doesn't change.
⸻
Life isn't something that continues to progress perfectly every single day.
⸻
There are days to stop. There are days to rest.
⸻
But that, too, is a proper part of life.
⸻
If you are blaming yourself right now for not having accomplished anything, I want you to try and relax your shoulders just a little.
⸻
Today, just being alive is enough.
⸻
You are breathing properly and you are getting through today.
⸻
That alone is actually an amazing thing.
⸻
It's okay to have days where you do nothing. It's because of days like that that you can sometimes find yourself again.
