Lazy
This is a short story a bit different from my usual ones. It's amateurish and probably hard to read, so I would appreciate it if you could take a look when you think, 'Well, I'm bored, I guess I can read this.' I apologize in advance, as I might even be wasting your free time. I'm sorry.
The morning sun is streaming in through the gap in the blackout curtains I left open just a little. Trying not to look directly at the light, I grab the white fabric tangled around my legs and drag myself over to the window.
The city outside the window is washed out, bathed in intense light. Even though the city and I know each other well, we act as if we've exchanged a glance last night and are now pretending not to know one another.
The line between dreams and reality often becomes unclear.
I let out a languid sigh and ran my fingers through my hair. While still fiddling with my hair, I turned only my head toward the darkness, staring over my shoulder at your empty shell and the pile of white fabric. It felt too precious to end this moment, so I leaned against the window and watched it quietly for a while.
I tidied up the scattered shells and turned on the radio at a volume so low it was barely audible. The dial I turned at random was playing 'The Girl from Ipanema,' which was perfect for gently waking you up and for my own mood.
The morning sun from earlier was illuminating the soles of your feet sticking out from the white pile, and since I didn't like that, I shifted the curtains. I had just felt that with the Ipanema song, you should share more of your beauty with the world. Still, it just feels too wasteful.
'Good morning, let's go for a walk.'
Still half-asleep, you kept one eye squeezed shut, asked 'What time is it now?', and pulled the duvet up. Even like that, you haven't hidden a single thing I love about you.
Sometimes, I want you to take a break with me, in a breeze different from the usual, under an unfamiliar sky. Sometimes, I want to go out with you without any plans. I want to go for a 'simple walk' that doesn't need an excuse like going to check on something.
In this seaside town that I love the most.
A morning that smells like being lazy.
Thinking about that, I forced a bit of the morning coffee I dislike down my throat. Well then, time to work.
