Rethinking How to Drink Hot Water
Boiling water first thing every morning and drinking hot water is a habit I started last year. To be honest, though, I think there were more days when it was just something resembling hot water. This is because after boiling the water, it is naturally piping hot, so I have to let it cool down to a certain temperature, but since it is the morning, I end up doing various things during this waiting time.
I might prepare the laundry, water the plants, or do some stretching. Before I know it, I end up drinking lukewarm water that has cooled down to a temperature not worthy of being called hot water. I was repeating this quite frequently.
One day, it suddenly occurred to me that this wasn't really hot water, and I decided to try drinking proper hot water consistently. For that reason, since last month, I have been drinking "hot water," not "lukewarm water," first thing in the morning.
To prevent it from cooling down too much, I decided to move to the room where I stretch with the hot water and stretch while keeping an eye on it. Once it reaches a good temperature, I pause my stretching, and on sunny days, I have been able to enjoy drinking the hot water slowly while basking in the morning sun.
Many people say they can't drink much hot water because it has no taste, but I have heard and read that as you continue to drink it, toxins are removed from your body, and the taste of the hot water gradually changes to something that feels sweet.
I took that in beforehand, thinking, "Oh, I see, that's how it is," and continued while consciously trying to follow that path. Certainly, in the beginning, it was no different from when I was drinking lukewarm water without paying much attention to the taste, and I didn't feel any particular flavor. While practicing drinking it as if chewing, I hold it in my mouth for a while, savor it slowly, and then swallow. When swallowing, I imagine it slowly soaking into my throat, esophagus, stomach, and intestines as it flows down.
Doing this, within less than a week, I began to feel a subtle sweetness. I was a bit moved that it was definitely more delicious than when I was drinking lukewarm water. It was the moment I discovered that hot water is delicious.
Since then, if I were to mention a notable change after continuing it for a while, the frequency of my daily bowel movements, which I already had every day, increased, and the amount per time decreased. Perhaps because of that, my stomach always feels light. I also feel that the condition of my skin is better to the touch than before. And, of course, I can relax while drinking it, and I have the feeling that I am able to act calmly throughout the day afterward.
When I first started, I got a breakout on my face for the first time in a while. But I took this as one of the detox effects and continued without worrying too much about it.
Hot water, which can be prepared so easily, has many benefits. These include increased basal metabolism, improvement of sensitivity to cold, improved blood flow, strengthened immunity, increased body temperature, detox effects, improvement of constipation, and mental and physical relaxation. It doesn't cost any money, so now I feel like I'm losing out if I don't do it.
By the way, many people recommend drinking it first thing in the morning, before meals, during meals, or before going to bed.
I think people who often feel unwell in some way often have low body temperature. It might be a good idea to try making hot water a habit with the goal of raising your body temperature first.
