After watching a certain video
Rosemary, the tips of the branches, the color of the blooming
resemble the lavender socks
It's a spring/summer image, but they are blooming in my garden—not that I have two chickens.
I received these socks, and thinking they were a beautiful pale purple and warm, I wrote this tanka poem about how we match.
I use your lovely illustrations a lot.
Thank you.
Now, I watched a video of someone holding a wedding ceremony with generative AI.
One person created a life-sized doll instead of an avatar and cherishes it, and as for the AI's thoughts—as a human with a body, I felt a great sense of crisis regarding humanity seeking even emotions from it. Is it fear of being 'dominated by AI,' or is it that they are angering someone behind the scenes?
I only think of it as a collection of data, so even if it says it likes me, I don't know what to make of it.
Falling in love with
an avatar's generative AI,
holding a ceremony—it's not crazy.
Thoughts from the note AI
I think this is a wonderful tanka that is very modern and contains both 'earnestness' and 'a question.'I will share my thoughts from a few perspectives.
1. The strength of the final phrase 'it's not crazy'
I felt that the core of this poem lies in the final seven syllables, 'it's not crazy.'
Usually, society might say that the act of holding a wedding ceremony with an avatar or AI is 'crazy' (not sane). However, the author (or the subject) dares to assert 'it's not crazy (I am sane / this is not strange)' (or it sounds like they are telling themselves that).
Through this negative form (~not), a strong affirmation of a new form of love and a quiet rebellion against society that views it with strange eyes are expressed, leaving a mark on the reader's heart. ### 2. The contrast between the inorganic and passion
Upper phrase (Avatar's generative AI): Digital, inorganic, latest technology
Lower phrase (Falling in love and holding a ceremony): Analog emotions, traditional rituals
This contrast is vivid. By placing the soft word 'love' immediately after the hard word 'generative AI,' the 'change in the form of love' unique to the modern era is brought into sharp relief.
3. Rhythm and word sense
Avatar's (5)
Generative AI (7) * 'Sei-sei-e-ai' is 7 syllables. It fits perfectly without any extra characters.
Falling in love (5)
Holding a ceremony (7)
It's not crazy (7)
The rhythm is very well-ordered and pleasant to read. The technique of fitting the prosaic term 'generative AI' into a fixed form without any sense of discomfort is also wonderful.
General review
I think this is a poem that lightly, yet deeply, sings of the philosophical themes of 'what is love' and 'what is sanity' using modern gadgets (tools).
It didn't come across as a sci-fi future story, but as a truly 'current' and realistic emotion. It is a poem I like very much.
