The True Self and the Constructed Self
As you proceed with self-analysis, you may sometimes get the feeling that
"I have realized my true self"
or
"This is who I am."
I, too, have sometimes thought or said,
"This was my true form all along."
But as you analyze further...
You realize that even that so-called
"true self"
is also constructed.
Our personalities are shaped by our environment.
Desires like
"I want to be like this!"
or
"I want that!"
and preferences like
"This is nice!" or "How cute!" ...
Everything is constructed.
When you think about it that way, it's not that there is a
"true self,"
but rather that you have simply become
"a self that is the result of your environment and accumulation."
I didn't want to become this kind of person!!
Those who are dissatisfied with their current selves might think.
But you are the one who became this way.
"I took the easy way out,"
"I didn't solve my problems,"
"I ran away,"
"I disliked change and didn't grow."
Isn't the result of that the current, unwanted version of yourself?
I, too, used to blame things, saying,
"It's not my fault that I ended up like this."
Giving up by saying,
"Because this is my personality,"
"Because I am this kind of person," ...
You're giving up on the wrong things, aren't you...
You can change yourself, yet you give up on that,
while trying to control things you cannot change, like other people or your surroundings, without giving up.
It's the opposite (laughs).
If you want to change, just change.
The true self. There is no such thing as a true form.
There isn't one.
The self you are now is your true form right now.
You can do whatever you want with your personality.
If so,
you can become the person you want to be.
Once you can understand this from the bottom of your heart,
you might stop being
swayed by the words and actions of others.
Regarding my previous article,
my mentor (Brainwashing Liberation-chan) gave me
some feedback (lol).
"You haven't fully accepted that everyone is an idiot"
she said...
It means "you haven't fully accepted the level of others."
Brainwashing Liberation-chan often says,
"It can't be helped,"
"Oh well,"
"Just laugh it off."
You cannot control others.
"People are people."
She understands and accepts this well.
That is why she has "no expectations"
and was able to let go of "anger."
I think it means
she knows herself very well.
I have lived
with the words "Oh well! is your greatest enemy"
in my mind.
Whenever I think,
"Oh well,"
I have been conditioned to reflexively think,
"That won't do!!" (lol).
This stubbornness of mine...
this, too, is a constructed self.
For things you cannot control yourself,
you have to give up by saying "It can't be helped" or "Oh well"...
in other words, you have no choice but to accept it and let it go.
Writing this now,
I've started to laugh at my own stubbornness (lol).
Let's become stronger
by looking at our own "weak points (weaknesses)" like this (lol).
