Graduating from Being a Know-How Collector! A To-Do List to Maximize Your Learning
My bookshelf is lined with books on writing techniques.
Although I have read books and written notes, my concern was that I didn't really feel like my writing was getting any better.
Just collecting know-how and writing based on those teachings in my own way doesn't lead to improvement, does it?
That's why I ended up joining Mono-Can, but it's the same at the school.
I finally realized that there is no point in just stuffing myself with know-how. (A bit late)
I am still in the process of trial and error regarding how I intend to utilize what I learn at Mono-Can and break it down into to-dos, but I hope this will be of some help to others who are also learning something and want to put it to use.
Learning Mindset
I want to avoid making learning the goal itself.
First, these five points are important as a learning mindset.
☑️Experimental thinking → Analysis → Summarizing
☑️Hypothesis-driven thinking
☑️Purpose-driven mindset
☑️Spirit of giving
☑️Output:Input = 7:3
I end up thinking all sorts of things, like that it's not going well at all, that I'm not cut out for it, that I have no sense for it, or that it's difficult, but I shouldn't expect things to go well from the start.
I don't have the luxury of time to be thinking about such things. (Reminding myself)
・Think about how to make things go well when they aren't going well
・Formulate a hypothesis as to why things aren't going well
・Reflect on what went well
I will install these ways of thinking and acting.
To-Dos by Scene
Since I'm going to the trouble of learning, I want to make the most of it, right?
With that in mind, I thought about to-dos for each scene: before, during, and after the lecture.
○ Before the lecture
・Ask yourself what you want to learn the most
By asking yourself and writing it down, 'selective attention' begins to work, and your brain will desperately start searching for that answer within the book.
○ During the lecture
・Listen while thinking of questions
Formulating questions seems to instantly increase my concentration.
I will aim to ask high-quality questions so that I can represent the people learning alongside me.
○ After the lecture
・Review 7 times
I learned the rule of reading 7 times. I watched the lecture 3 times and reviewed the materials 7 times.
The steps of learning are the following four:
Knowing → Understanding → Doing → Being able to teach
First, I want to thoroughly advance through the understanding stage.
Outputting with sticky note journaling
By taking notes on sticky notes, I can rearrange them later in a way that makes sense to me, which helped deepen my understanding.

I think just by thinking about how to categorize and organize them, I can gain a higher perspective.
I will keep summarizing them on note to improve the quality of my output.
Some people have commented that my recent summaries are helpful, which is very encouraging.
