[Recommended for Students and Cram School Tutors] 37 Educational YouTube Channels [2025 Latest Edition]
Hello, this is Sujo, and this is my 479th article. Today, I will be introducing recommended educational YouTube channels, updated for the 2025 edition. I have added channels and updated information since the 2023 version of this article. I have also included comments based on my experience working as a cram school tutor.
*The channels introduced here are aimed at everyone from elementary school students to university students and working professionals. Also, since I am a science-oriented person, there are fewer channels for humanities subjects. (They are biased toward mathematics and English.)
A certain man tried teaching
This is the most famous educational YouTube channel in Japan. It features lesson videos explained in a basic way, covering all units of elementary school arithmetic, junior high school math, English, science, and social studies, as well as high school mathematics. It is recommended for those who have missed school or are preparing for tests. However, it does not support the new curriculum, so there are no videos for some fields.
Historia Mundi
On this channel, Mr. Keiichi Yamazaki, affectionately known as Mundi-sensei, posts videos of his blackboard lectures on high school world history, Japanese history, and geography. It seems that he has completely covered the scope of university entrance exams for each. Mundi-sensei is an active public high school teacher and the author of the "Never Forget Once You Read It" series on Japanese history, world history, and geography. It does not support the new social studies curriculum, but I don't think that's a major problem.
Video Lessons Try IT
On this channel, Try, a nationwide cram school, has posted almost all the lesson videos for junior high and high school subjects required for entrance exams. Please note that it does not support the new curriculum.
Keitaku Channel for Junior High School Entrance Exam Arithmetic and High School Entrance Exam Math
This channel features videos explaining how to solve and think about problems necessary for junior high school entrance exams in arithmetic. The fields are explained in a comprehensive and easy-to-understand manner. It is also recommended for cram school tutors.
Junior High School Study Support 'Stafuri'
This channel features lesson videos for junior high school students in Japanese, math, English, science, and social studies. Personally, I recommend it to junior high and high school students who are not good at English, and to cram school tutors who are unsure how to teach English to junior high school students.
Tadayobi
This channel features lesson videos for high school students by instructors with experience at cram schools and preparatory schools. Currently, new videos and old premium videos are being released sequentially. Because there are too many videos, I recommend searching from the official website.
Utera Lesson Channel [YouTube Terakoya]
This channel features lesson videos by preparatory school instructors for Japanese, English, world history, and Japanese history. Regarding the English lesson videos, videos on basic grammar explained by the same instructor are also available on the Tadayobi Basic Humanities channel.
PASSLABO - '10 Minutes in the Morning' Entrance Exam Study Cafe from the University of Tokyo Faculty of Medicine
This channel, originating from the University of Tokyo Faculty of Medicine, carefully explains how to study and how to solve math and English problems with an emphasis on the thinking process. I have the impression that many of them are for difficult universities, but there are also videos that explain from a basic level. MathLABO is a channel specializing in mathematics, but it is not currently being updated. Personally, I recommend the all-pattern explanation series.
Stardy - Gento Kono's God Lessons
This channel features study method videos by Gento Kono, a University of Tokyo graduate who has passed the bar exam, the national medical practitioner's exam, and the certified public accountant exam, as well as various math/arithmetic challenge videos and math/English explanation videos. Personally, I recommend the math pattern explanation videos. Also, in the 2023 fiscal year, it seems that all three University of Tokyo examinees passed through a project called the Akamon Dojo.
Serious Growth Exam Math: Explanatory Videos by University of Tokyo Medical Students
This channel provides in-depth explanations of certain areas of exam mathematics. Personally, I recommend watching these after you have reached a certain level of proficiency in solving math problems.
Super Understandable! Lesson Videos
This channel features lesson videos for middle school math, high school math, high school chemistry, and high school English.
Math Skills Improvement Channel
This channel features lesson videos by topic for high school math, as well as problem explanation videos. They focus on the fundamentals while using their own unique teaching style. Personally, I recommend the lessons on permutations, combinations, probability, and vectors.
Mathematics Monster
This channel features math problem explanation videos aimed at students aiming for top-tier universities. They are in the middle of re-recording older videos, so depending on the topic, there may only be older videos available. They are very easy to understand and include explanations for problems that are hard to find elsewhere online. Personally, I consider this a hidden gem of a channel.
Taniguchi Lesson Channel
This channel features math lesson videos by Takahito Taniguchi, a preparatory school instructor. It has a complete set of lesson videos for the new curriculum Math B's statistical inference.
Kantaro Suzuki
This channel features videos explaining university entrance exam math problems and original problems. While the topics are somewhat biased, there is a large number of entrance exam problem videos. Recently, there have been many shogi videos, so it might be better to search through the playlists.
Seka-Chan - The World's Easiest-to-Understand Information Subject Channel
This channel features videos explaining 'Information I,' which was added to the Common Test in the new high school curriculum, and 'Information II' (which is outside the scope of the Common Test). Although limited to basic content, there are explanation videos covering the entire range.
English Instructor Kenichi Saito (Formerly Pocket English Grammar Channel)
This channel features English grammar explanation videos by preparatory school instructor Kenichi Saito. A key feature is that each video is short.
Math & English Instruction Manual!
This channel features middle school math, high school math, and English explanation videos by preparatory school instructors Koki Sakoda (Math) and Kenichi Saito (English).
'A-I-U-E-O Phonics' English Pronunciation
This channel, based in Los Angeles, features videos where you can learn English pronunciation (phonics) using 'A-I-U-E-O' taught by native speakers. There are also explanation videos regarding grammar and expressions.
Goku Futsu no Gaikokujin Gatchan
On this channel, a perfectly ordinary Korean person living in Korea posts English lessons for 'English casualties' in fluent Japanese. Recently, a book on grammar explanations has been published.
Yobinori Takumi (Learning University Math and Physics with Cram School Vibes)
On this channel, Yobinori Takumi posts lecture videos on university-level mathematics and physics for science students. There are also explanation videos for high school students on topics like integration and integer problems. The channel also features outreach content such as academic discussions with researchers and lecture videos. Additionally, some of the large-scale lecture series have been published as books.
Masaki Koga [Math Explanation]
On this channel, videos explaining university entrance exam problems for top-tier universities and university-level mathematics such as linear algebra are posted. This channel is characterized by its focus on rigor in its explanations.
AKITO
On this channel, videos mainly covering university-level linear algebra and analysis are posted, along with videos explaining high school math problems. Much of the content is difficult, making it recommended for university students who want to learn mathematics. It seems that video updates have recently resumed.
Takeda Juku
This is the channel for Takeda Juku, which has school branches nationwide. It features videos introducing reference books for exam subjects and study methods for various universities and subjects. The Takeda Juku English channel is a specialized channel for obtaining English certifications. Personally, I have the impression that Takeda Juku's reference book curriculum is aimed at people who are not aiming for top-tier universities or those who are short on time.
CASTDICE
On this channel, Kobasho, who runs the private tutoring school CASTDICE, posts videos related to university entrance exams, including reference book comparisons, unique perspectives on university introductions, and study method introductions. The 'Kobasho' channel is where he talks about news related to entrance exams and his opinions on them. The 'Juku Koshi' (Cram School Tutor) channel is for cram school tutors. Personally, I have the impression that the CASTDICE reference book curriculum (flow) is aimed at people aiming for top-tier universities or those who start studying from their first or second year of high school.
Shinohara Hitoshi [Study Methods of the National #1 in Kyoto University Mock Exams]
On this channel, Hitoshi Shinohara, who runs the Shinohara Juku, posts videos featuring reference book reviews, comparisons, and study method introductions.
Junior High School Entrance Exams! Which is Which!? Math and Science Education Research Association
On this channel, detailed reference book reviews and educational consultation videos regarding junior high and university entrance exams are posted. It is also recommended for those who want to know about niche reference books.
Artificial Intelligence Tonsukeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
On this channel, videos challenging university entrance exam problems and videos explaining statistics are posted. There are theoretical explanation videos for the 'Statistical Inference' section of the new curriculum Math B. There are also videos related to AI/data science, which are also recommended.
Mysterious Mathematician
On this channel, a mathematician who currently works at a university talks about university-level mathematics and related topics. It is unlikely that any new videos will be updated.
MT Mathematics & History of Mathematics
This channel features discussions on the history of mathematics, university-level mathematics, insights into entrance exam math, and explanations of high school mathematics. Personally, I recommend it for those who are already somewhat proficient in math.
Atsueigo
This channel features a lot of English-related content by ATSU, who has experience working as an accountant in places like Australia. He has released a popular vocabulary book called 'Distinction' for acquiring native-level vocabulary. Personally, I recommend it for those who are already somewhat proficient in English.
That concludes my recommendations for educational YouTube channels. I hope this information proves useful for your entrance exams, test preparation, or cram school tutoring. Take care.
