[Recommended for Students and Cram School Instructors] 30 Educational YouTube Channels [2023 Edition]
Hello, this is Sujo, and this is my 428th article. Today, I will be introducing my recommended educational YouTube channels for the 2023 edition. Since last year's article, I have added channels and updated information. I have also included comments based on my experience working as a part-time cram school instructor.
The 2025 latest edition (with added channels) can be found in the following article.
*The target audience for all the channels introduced ranges from elementary school students to university students and working adults. Also, since I am a science-oriented person, there are fewer social studies channels.
Channels useful for supplementing school lessons
Toaru Otoko ga Jugyou wo Shitemita
This is the most famous educational YouTube channel in Japan. It features lesson videos explained in a basic way that covers all units of elementary school arithmetic, junior high school math, English, science, and social studies, as well as high school mathematics. It is recommended for those who have missed school or are preparing for tests.
Historia Mundi
On this channel, Mr. Keiichi Yamazaki, affectionately known as Mundi-sensei, posts videos of blackboard lectures on high school world history, Japanese history, and geography. It seems to completely cover the scope of university entrance exams. Mundi-sensei is an active public high school teacher and the author of the "Never Forget Once You Read It" series on Japanese and world history.
Video Lessons Try IT
On this channel, Try, a nationwide cram school, provides lesson videos for almost all subjects required for entrance exams at the junior high and high school levels.

Junior High Entrance Exam Arithmetic / High School Entrance Exam Math Keitaku Channel
This channel features videos explaining how to solve problems and the thought processes required for junior high school entrance exam arithmetic. The fields are covered comprehensively and clearly. It is also recommended for cram school instructors.
Junior High School Study Support 'Stafuri'
This channel features lesson videos for junior high school students in Japanese, math, English, science, and social studies. Personally, I recommend it to junior high and high school students who are weak in English, and to cram school instructors who are unsure how to teach English to junior high school students.
'Tadayobi' Humanities Channel
'Tadayobi' Science Channel
This channel features lesson videos for high school students by instructors with experience at cram schools and preparatory schools. Currently, new videos for the new curriculum and old premium videos are being released sequentially. The drawback is that it is difficult to find videos because there are too many, but it seems they are working on improvements.
Yutera Lesson Channel [YouTube Terakoya]
This channel features lesson videos by preparatory school instructors for subjects such as Japanese, English, world history, and Japanese history. Regarding the English lesson videos, videos on basic grammar explained by the same instructor are also available on the 'Tadayobi' Basic Humanities Channel.
PASSLABO: '10 Minutes in the Morning' Entrance Exam Study Cafe from the University of Tokyo Medical School
MathLABO: 'Created by Everyone' Best Math Problem Collection from the University of Tokyo (Math Labo)
This channel, started by students from the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Medicine, carefully explains study methods and how to solve math and English problems with a focus on the thought process. While it gives the impression of being geared toward students aiming for top-tier universities, there are also videos that explain from a basic level. Personally, I recommend the all-pattern explanations.
Stardy - Gento Kono's God-tier Lessons
This channel features study method videos, various math and arithmetic challenge videos, and math and English explanation videos by Gento Kono, a University of Tokyo graduate who has passed the bar exam, the national medical practitioner qualifying examination, and the certified public accountant exam. Personally, I recommend his math pattern explanation videos.
Super Understandable! Lesson Videos
This channel features lesson videos for junior high school math, high school math, high school chemistry, and high school English.
Math Ability Improvement Channel
This channel features lesson videos by high school math topic and problem explanation videos. It covers the essentials while using a unique method of explanation. Personally, I recommend the lessons on permutations, combinations, probability, and vectors.
Mathematics Monster
This channel features math problem explanation videos for students aiming for top-tier universities. Since they are in the middle of re-filming old videos, some topics only have older videos available. They are quite easy to understand and include explanations for problems that are hard to find elsewhere on the internet. Personally, I consider this a hidden gem of a channel.
Taniguchi Lesson Channel
This channel features math lesson videos by Takahito Taniguchi, a preparatory school instructor. It has a complete set of lesson videos for statistical inference in the new curriculum Math B.
Artificial Intelligence Tonsukeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
This channel features university entrance exam challenge videos and statistics explanation videos. It includes theoretical explanation videos for statistical inference in the new curriculum Math B.
Kantaro Suzuki
This channel features videos explaining university entrance exam math problems and original problems. Although the topics are somewhat biased, there are a great many videos on entrance exam problems.
English Instructor Kenichi Saito (formerly Pocket English Grammar Channel)
This channel features English grammar explanation videos by preparatory school instructor Kenichi Saito. A key feature is that each video is short.

"Aiueo Phonics" English Pronunciation
This channel features videos from Los Angeles where you can learn English pronunciation (phonics) using the "A-I-U-E-O" sounds taught by native speakers. There are also explanatory videos on grammar and expressions.
Goku Futsu no Gaikokujin Gatchan
On this channel, an ordinary Korean living in Korea provides English lessons for "English casualties" in fluent Japanese. Recently, a book explaining grammar has been published.
Learning University Mathematics and Physics with Prep School Flair
This channel features lecture videos on university-level mathematics and physics by Yobinori Takumi, aimed at science students. There are also explanatory videos for high school students on topics like integration and integer problems. It also includes outreach content such as academic discussions with researchers and lecture videos. Additionally, some of the large-scale lecture series have been published as books.
Masaki Koga [Mathematics Explanation]
This channel features videos explaining university entrance exam problems from top-tier universities, as well as university-level mathematics such as linear algebra. A key feature of this channel is its emphasis on mathematical rigor in its explanations.
AKITO no Tokuiten
AKITO no Benkyo Channel
These channels primarily feature videos on university-level linear algebra and analysis, as well as videos explaining high school mathematics problems. Much of the content is advanced, making them recommended for university students who want to learn mathematics. However, the channels are no longer being updated.

This is the channel for Takeda Juku, which has schools nationwide. It features videos on introducing reference books for exam subjects and study methods for various universities and subjects. The Takeda Juku English channel is,a channel specialized in acquiring English certifications and similar goals.
CASTDICE TV
On this channel, Kobasho, who runs the private tutoring school CASTDICE, and others post videos related to university entrance exams, including reference book comparisons, unique university introductions, and study method introductions.
Shinohara Hajime [Study Methods of a National Top-Ranked Kyoto University Mock Exam Student]
This channel features videos by Hajime Shinohara, who runs the Shinohara Juku, covering reference book reviews, comparisons, and study method introductions.
Atsueigo
This channel features a lot of English-related content by ATSU, who has experience working as an accountant in Australia and other places. He has released a popular vocabulary book called "Distinction" for mastering native-level vocabulary. Personally, I recommend it to those who already have a certain level of English proficiency.
