The entire book is in full color and packed with illustrations. It kindly and carefully explains how to manage money through five stages: "Saving, Earning, Growing, Protecting, and Spending." It provides great guidance.

A feature of "The University of Money" is that it devotes 70-80% of the entire book to the very first stage, "Saving," out of the five stages of "Saving, Earning, Growing, Protecting, and Spending."

"Saving money" does not mean saving money blindly, but rather "cutting unnecessary expenses." If you ignore this and focus only on earning money, you cannot become truly wealthy.

For example, even if you earn 1 million yen per month, if your monthly living expenses are 1 million yen, your life will collapse the moment you can no longer work. In fact, one could argue that a monthly income of 200,000 yen with monthly living expenses of 100,000 yen leads to a more stable life. That is why the first stage, which is "Saving money" = "Cutting unnecessary expenses" = "Optimizing expenses," is so important.

I started reviewing my expenses and investing in savings in earnest around the time this book was released. Now, about five years later, I am truly glad that I encountered this book at that time.

Summary

However, the phrase "It is never too late to start anything" feels a bit too obvious, and it doesn't really give you that "aha!" moment of realization.

In comparison, the phrase "Today is the youngest day of your life" has a certain indirectness that I feel you cannot fully grasp at once.

However, when you do understand it, there is a realization of "Indeed...!" and it is a phrase that leaves a very strong impression.

The first time I encountered the phrase "Today is the youngest day of your life" was when I heard it as the closing remark on the YouTube channel run by President Ryo.

Since it was an unfamiliar phrase, I didn't understand its meaning at first, but when I thought about it carefully,

"Since the only moment I can live is right now, it is certainly true that this moment is the youngest in my life. No matter how old I am, what my career is, or what my situation is, my future life will change significantly depending on what I do right now, today, the youngest day of my life."

I was able to receive a message like that. (I don't know what President Ryo thinks, but this is my own interpretation.)
