Aphorisms of Happiness, No. 46: "Dare to Make Many Mistakes"
I am resuming "Aphorisms of Happiness," which had been on hiatus since February 24, 2025. It took nearly four months to crawl back up to this point, but I have finally returned. Thank you to everyone who offered support and encouragement.
Also, this time, I am quoting from an article by choro, a creator I am mutuals with and a huge fan of. This is the first collaboration in the "Aphorisms of Happiness" project! Thank you so much!
You can find choro's original article here.
I have decided to add two phrases from that article to "Aphorisms of Happiness" this time.
Here is the first one!
"Dare to make many mistakes"
Yes, it's wonderful.
Usually, the word "mistake" carries a negative connotation. This is a magical aphorism that transforms it into a positive one!
When I was young, in the dangerous period right after the bubble burst, there was a sense of tension where one mistake meant you were out, and departments with about 100 people would collectively withdraw from business and be dissolved.
Something I couldn't realize back when I was in that "no-mistakes-allowed" environment was this:
"Dare to make many mistakes"
It was a brand-new perspective. It was an eye-opener!
It is true that you learn a lot by making mistakes. When you take a step forward, you see a completely different landscape. Also, if there are traps set, you can notice them sooner. If you don't suffer a fatal blow from those traps, you can use that experience to take a step forward more safely. In other words, you gain experience points and level up.
To avoid suffering a fatal blow when a trap is triggered, you should do as you please in a "small environment that is well-thought-out and designed so that it's okay to fail," rather than in a "large environment where a failure causes massive damage."
In fact, by failing and compiling those failures into records to share, many people can be helped and become happy.
So, let's make mistakes! Don't just stop fearing mistakes; let's actually look forward to them! You should be able to find great insights and the seeds of innovation there!
Therefore, if you work in an office, stick this phrase on your desk or laptop, and if you work in the field, put it on your mobile phone's wallpaper so you don't forget it.
"Dare to make many mistakes"
Thank you for reading until the end. May sparkling grains of happiness rain down upon all of you, and upon choro, who provided this phrase.
