User Manual for this Note
For the convenience of those reading, I will explain the overall structure of this note. Basically, it is categorized by magazine.
Current affairs commentary, technology, general columns, novels, etc., are individually organized into magazines as follows.
1) Regarding world affairs, politics, economy, and finance
This section contains general current affairs commentary. In particular, I continuously post about financial conditions here, and a 'Table of Contents' is pinned to the magazine. I strive to provide meaningful information, focusing on macro analysis, especially for volunteer individual investors.
2) Regarding humanities and history
Here, I would like to include articles that require deeper consideration regarding history and humanity, which are not limited to politics, finance, and economics, and are slightly removed from current events. The series related to General Nogi during the land battles of the Russo-Japanese War is also included here, and a 'Table of Contents' is pinned. I intend for General Nogi to be my life's work, and I will continue to write much more about him.
3) What I have thought about the significance of work as an engineer
Based on the content of a lecture I gave at my company for about an hour at the time of my retirement, I reflect on modernity, work, and the Japanese people. I have summarized what I thought and how I acted as an engineer for the benefit of my juniors. A 'Table of Contents' is also placed at the beginning of this magazine.
4) Regarding technology
Here, I post about my own specialized technology as an engineer and what I felt as a corporate engineer. I hope to deliver useful, if perhaps harsh, information for a fulfilling engineering life. I will also post technical research and proposals.
5) Regarding family and home
I provide familiar topics related to family, such as family, wife, children, education, work, and nursing care. I write about the trivial matters concerning the family I have built with my parents, ancestors, and wife for over 30 years, and my two sons who have become independent. A 'Table of Contents' is also placed at the beginning of this magazine.
6) Regarding my modernity and love
I have posted the essay 'Thirty-Five Years Later' and the novel 'Rain and Polka Dots' in two different forms, although they share the same theme. I wanted to leave behind my feelings for a woman I was deeply in love with in my 20s, so I have continued to do so in the two forms of an essay and a novel. A 'Table of Contents' is also placed at the beginning of this magazine.
7) This is a homage novel to Shugoro Yamamoto's 'Otafuku'.
In my youth, I was saved by Shugoro's novels. Many novels cross my mind, but 'Otafuku' in particular is the novel that made me cry with a burning heart while earnestly thinking of the woman I was deeply in love with at the time (the woman from the 'Thirty-Five Years Later' mentioned above), and it is the novel I hold most dear to my heart even now. I have wished for over 30 years to write a homage to that novel.
8) Regarding General of the Army Hitoshi Imamura, who was born in 1886, maintained 100,000 soldiers in Rabaul as a military commander during the last war until the end of the war, and subsequently fought against the Allied forces against groundless war crimes trials
Focusing on the memoirs of General Imamura, who is my mentor in life, I introduce wisdom and interesting stories regarding all aspects of life. The 'Memoirs of Hitoshi Imamura' is a nourishing autobiography that shows in detail and concretely how a man should live, and I believe it is a piece of reading that should be read by Japanese people for a long time. You can also get a glimpse of life before and after the war, the true state of the so-called elite society of the Army, and the way of thinking of the Meiji people who lived sincerely. I intend to be a guide for that. A 'Table of Contents' is also placed at the beginning of this magazine.
9) Regarding comedy, entertainment, sports, movies, dramas, etc.
I introduce the entertainment, arts, etc., that I have cared about and have a deep attachment to. These things are like a fragrant coffee break that is indispensable for living. For my favorite 'Otoko wa Tsurai yo' (It's Tough Being a Man), a 'Table of Contents' is pinned.
10) Book Reviews / I have compiled various book reviews and recommended books here.
I believe reading is essential nutrition for a satisfying life. Shoichi Watanabe, a reader among readers, says that reading makes a person thoughtful.
I would like to provide information on books I like and books that have been useful to me, along with my experiences with them. Reading is a personal matter, and I hope this will serve as a small insight into your own reading life.
Reviews of books by Nanami Shiono, which I have been reading a lot lately, are listed at the beginning.
11) About Me
This section is about myself (though there is some overlap with other categories); it might be something like an autobiographical novel.
12) Here, I introduce things I have noticed and good shops I have found while going for walks and strolls with my wife almost every week.
These are city walks that involve physical activity. I will write about them specifically so that they might serve as hints for your own strolls.
13) About Travel
In my younger days, I also took many spiritual journeys. Based on that, I would like to continue traveling and writing down my experiences, just like Takeshi Kaiko, whom I loved in my youth.
14) Paid Articles
I will compile paid articles here.
For better convenience, I am organizing paid articles in this way. I appreciate your continued support.
