Transcending Time

This wristwatch is
something like a 'partner' that has
watched over my life's journey from the closest distance
for nearly 35 years.

Going back in time, 35 years ago.
As a 16-year-old high school girl,
I loved the time spent after school
looking at fashion magazines with my friends.

I fell in love at first sight with the
'agnès b.' wristwatch featured in a magazine,
and I wanted it so badly.

The price of the watch was around 20,000 yen.
For me at the time, with a monthly allowance of 5,000 yen,
it was very expensive.

I talked to my mother,
and by doing chores like cleaning the house and making dinner on Sundays,
receiving 300 yen each time,
I saved up money little by little.

A few months later,
I was finally able to get
the wristwatch I had longed for.

The 16-year-old me,
along with that joy,
quietly vowed in my heart,
'I will cherish this watch forever.'

Since then,
while changing the band and performing maintenance,
I have wiped the watch with a soft cloth every day,
and said 'thank you' to it.

And now, time has passed,
and I am 50 years old.

Wearing this watch,
I am looking at the sun-drenched blue sky
with someone dear to me.

From here on out,
together with this watch,
I will continue to walk
through time.
