HWM#9 "What are some words you've been told recently that made you feel happy?"

Two things a friend said to me at work today:
"You know, [My Name], you're interesting!"
"It's fun being with you!"
were those two phrases.

I have low self-esteem, and I have a personality where I get paranoid, thinking, Do people actually enjoy being around me?? 😣

So, when I was told these words today, I was so happy I could have cried.

I definitely didn't ask, "Is it fun being with me?" and make them say it (lol).
We were talking about something completely different, and they just happened to say it out of the blue.

Hearing those words spoken from the heart, I felt a sensation of warmth spreading from the bottom of my chest, thinking,
They actually felt that way about me! 😭

I'm so grateful for that friend...

There are a few other words that have made me happy, but in addition to those, I also feel happy in the situation where
someone strikes up a casual conversation with me (at work).

After all, people wouldn't strike up a casual conversation if they weren't interested in me, right?
If they thought I wasn't interesting, they wouldn't talk to me.

So, when a senior colleague talks to me with a smile, I feel genuinely happy about the situation itself, thinking,
"Oh, they want to talk to me!"
To put it dramatically, it's the feeling of being acknowledged.

On the surface, anyone can say nice things like "It's fun talking to you" or "I rely on you at work."
But actions don't lie.

With my low self-esteem, I find happiness in those honest "actions," and my heart is saved by them.

By the way, I really want to do something about this low self-esteem that prevents me from accepting myself.
I wonder if a day will come when I can live with confidence...
(It sounds serious when written down, but I'm not actually worrying about it that deeply 😶‍🌫️)
