Children's Growth Seen Through Fried Chicken
Thank you for coming to read this today as well.
The other day, I made fried chicken for dinner.
It is a popular staple menu item in our home.
By the way, it is soy sauce flavored.
At my parents' house, the coating was only potato starch, resulting in a crispy finish.
However, in our home, my second son says that a coating of only potato starch is too hard and hurts his mouth, so I use a half-and-half mix of flour and potato starch.
That makes the coating a little softer.
But, however.
That day, my second son said.
"Mom. I like crispy fried chicken. I want to graduate from soft fried chicken."
Huh? What?
You should have told me before I made it!!!
Swallowing the urge to say that, I asked.
"You used to say that the crispy kind was hard and difficult to eat, are you sure you'll be okay?"
"I'm okay now!I've become strong!"
...Strong, huh.
Come to think of it, I and everyone around us have always treated my youngest as a small child, thinking he would stay young forever.
Without me realizing it, he has grown up.
I need to acknowledge that he is growing up properly.
"Then, next time I make fried chicken, I'll make it crispy! Look forward to it."
When I said that, my second son nodded vigorously.
And then, he gave me a big hug.
My children still have their young side.
Even my eldest son gets sulky and pouts if he feels left out when my second son and I are playing.
In that sense, my children are still so cute.
But, as they gain experience in various places in their own way, there are times when they grow in places I don't know about.
And I'm sure that will happen more and more from now on.
It feels a little lonely, but I should be happy for them.
Thinking about all this over a single piece of fried chicken, I must be quite the doting parent, haha.
Thank you for reading this article, which is full of doting parent energy, all the way to the end.
