How I Created My Sitemap

Yesterday, I created a sitemap.
I'm happy to see such a positive response!

In this article, I will look back on the methods, thoughts, and realizations I had when I tried creating a sitemap.
I wrote this as a personal record, but please feel free to read along.

How to create a sitemap

◇ What is my area of expertise?

For creating the sitemap, I basically followed Tsubasa Ito's method.
The first step is to write down your areas of expertise.
It is easier to understand the details by looking at Mr. Ito's page.

This is how it turned out for me. (I'm exposing my messy handwriting and drawings again, without shame.)

Regardless of how messy it was, writing it all out helped me organize my thoughts a little.

◇ Classification and Organization

This is where I struggled.
(Messy drawings are coming up, so if you don't want to see them, please skip ahead.)

Perhaps because my analysis wasn't sufficient, I started feeling uneasy about the placement of the themes. Since I wrote them directly, it was hard to change their positions. I thought I should have used sticky notes, but it was too late.

I hit a wall, so I decided to take a break and sleep on it.

The next day, I looked through many sitemaps one after another.
This was to study again how others have organized theirs.
It was interesting to see everyone's unique personality, and I ended up looking at them for about two hours.

And then I realized.

Which articles do I want people to read the most?
Which articles are in demand?
I should just display those genres the way I decided.

Suddenly, the self-imposed restrictions I had created dissolved, and things started coming together smoothly.

◇ Finalizing and Completing the Sitemap

Once I reached this point, I proceeded with the work just like Rikejo Mama.
Thanks to creating it on a PC, it went very quickly.
I'm glad I read the articles beforehand.

I included themes I might write about in the future because I saw Tsubasa Ito do it and thought it was interesting, so I adopted that idea.

After that, I added emojis and decorations, and it was complete.

Reflection and Realizations

・Since this is a classification as of now, you can just update it if there are any changes.
・It helps you rediscover what you really want to write about.
・Creating a sitemap is a way of facing yourself.

The final point about "facing yourself" is what I felt most strongly after trying to create one this time.
It was a great opportunity that made me rethink why I want to write on note, what themes I want to write about, and what I want to convey.
Building on this experience, I want to continue enjoying a life with note.
