Resistance
Self-understanding, self-acceptance
It is important, but because I cannot do it, I am
suffering and struggling.
There are probably many people like that.
Especially when you have to feel or
accept your own negative aspects,
it is hard to want to acknowledge yourself,
and it is hard to accept yourself.
Why do I end up resisting...?
People talk about self-acceptance and letting go of attachments.
I understand that self-acceptance is important, but
when it comes to putting it into practice, it is quite difficult...
I don't want to acknowledge it,
I don't want to accept it.
I end up resisting.
Resistance...
Resistance is a concept in psychoanalysis.
This is a defensive reaction where an individual attempts to avoid unconscious impulses, desires, emotions, or conflicts that they do not wish to become conscious of, as they begin to surface.
In psychoanalysis, such unconscious material is considered a threat to the ego, as it could disrupt the stability of one's current conscious self.
Therefore, when unconscious content is about to surface, the mechanism of resistance acts to prevent it from being verbalized or brought to the surface.
Resistance is a defensive reaction!
Attempting to avoid
it from entering consciousness. Feeling it as a threat to the ego that disrupts one's stability.
Trying to prevent it from being verbalized or surfaced.
The fear that the ego is in danger.
The fear of being threatened.
The fear that stability will collapse.
I wonder if it's a feeling of fear...
The psychology behind resistance is,
fear, dread.
Deep down, it's... anxiety, perhaps...
If I acknowledge and accept it,
I don't know what will happen to me...
anxiety... fear...
I don't have the confidence to remain myself.
I will feel pain...
It hurts, it's painful, it's agonizing, I don't want that...
I wonder if these are the feelings...
I wonder if it would be good to be able to reduce anxiety?
I wonder if it would be good to have the toughness and resilience to endure pain?
I wonder if it would be good to have self-confidence, self-efficacy, and the feeling that I can do it?
(It doesn't matter if it's with support)
Even if I accept it,
I can still stand,
I won't collapse, I won't change,
I'll be okay!
How about creating a framework,
a structure that allows me to think that way?
Instead of avoiding it,
finding something I can maintain.
While ensuring the stability of the ego,
moving in a direction where I can face my anxiety.
Bringing what is unconsciously suppressed
up to consciousness.
Putting it into words, bringing it to the surface,
and clarifying it,
will likely not be an easy task.
If you can recognize it, then all that's left is practice.
That is where you face the conflict.
Even while knowing it yourself,
you become troubled by conflicting feelings.
That is conflict.
If you haven't recognized it yet,
it's a little more difficult...
because you aren't aware of it yourself...
People who are not good at knowing themselves
find it difficult to see things correctly (from a big-picture perspective)...
They have developed a habit of having biased views
or seeing things in a way that is convenient for them.
Habits are quite formidable...
Awareness is important✨
Knowing, discovering,
observing,
seeing, listening,
it's all important, isn't it?☺️
People who try to find themselves
are people of learning
They are people who try to grow✨
That is a wonderful thing💕
If...
you see someone resisting,
or,
if you feel yourself resisting,
I hope we can come to imagine, even a little,
what is happening inside that person
or the world they possess♪
That is,being there for someone✨
I hope we can be close to others,
and to ourselves as well💕
〜Thoughts rambling〜
A draft that was sleeping, once again✨
A holiday essay♪
By knowing what you feel threatened by,
when and how you defend yourself,
and understanding your own ways of self-protection and defensive behavioral patterns,
you may be able to notice your own heart that you have tried not to see until now,
and your true self that you were unaware of.
Reactions to frustration differ depending on
frustration tolerance that an individual possesses!
Frustration tolerance is an individual's ability to cope with frustrating situations without using inappropriate methods!
Self-esteem is translated as self-respect or self-worth. <Branden's perspective>
What is self-esteem?
Self-efficacy and self-worth
Self-efficacy becomes self-confidence, self-worth becomes self-respect,
and the integration of these becomes self-esteem.
◆Stable high self-esteem
・Not swayed by external factors, stable and adaptive.
・Also consistent with unconscious self-worth. (Can accept the negative)
Called optimal self-esteem!
I am a being who is imperfect and has weaknesses!
When you can truly accept that,
the power for growth emerges in a person!
Your true self!
When you can become your true self,
you begin to walk toward self-actualization,
and then,
human relationships become genuine,
connected by the heart,
and become living relationships.
The process of putting things into words is
the power to extract problems✨
