The Pros and Cons of Habits!
I made it a routine on my way to work to
listen to the sounds of classical music,
creating a peaceful space for my mind✨
For me, it was very effective
and I really loved it!
However...
Yesterday, while I was walking out of the house to go to work,
I went to put on my earphones
to listen to music as usual, and then...
W-wait, they're not there!!
What! What! No way!
Are you serious!
Oh no!
At that moment, I felt flustered
and a little bit of
an uneasy feeling
welled up inside me...
Do you understand?
I think everyone has felt this way at some point...
When something unexpected happens
to a movement that has become a habit,
the feeling of panic when something
you didn't anticipate occurs...
Actions that are always the same
are not consciously thought about
and are often done mindlessly.
Everyone carries a mobile phone (sorry for the pun lol),
and when you forget something you carry every day
and realize you don't have it,
you feel flustered... restless...
Even though you wear a watch every day,
if you forget to put it on...
you feel a sense of discomfort on your wrist...
When someone who has an exercise habit
doesn't exercise,
they feel like their body has gone soft...
In such states
that are different from usual,
you feel a sense of discomfort!
I'm sure you've had that experience...
Getting used to things, habits,
they can be good, or they can be bad...
That's what I felt!
When things you didn't expect,
things you didn't anticipate,
or things that are different from usual happen,
it causes impatience and anxiety!
Feeling impatient or anxious is
a physiological phenomenon and can't be helped...
However, the
ability to cope with that is necessary!✨
I felt that very strongly!
Yesterday on my way to work,
a situation occurred where I couldn't listen to
the classical piano music that is always my routine!
!
<My feelings>
↓
I can't feel a calm state of mind (I can't get that sense of comfort)
I can't create my usual mental stability
I can't get into my usual calm state of mind, and I don't like it~
Since it's different from my usual routine, I feel uncomfortable and restless~
Just because it's different from usual,
it really shakes up my feelings, doesn't it!
Habits are scary...
That's how I felt...
<Pros of Habits>
The action becomes
easier to perform,
the resistance disappears,
and you can feel a sense of security.
It feels like it's being memorized by your body!
Therefore,
you don't need to exert unnecessary effort,
you can do it without thinking, it's easy,
you don't feel a sense of crisis,
and you can feel at ease!
I think that's what it is...
<Cons of Habits>
You become ruled by rules (I must do this),
you get upset when things are different from usual,
and you feel worry or anxiety when things are different from usual.
It's easy to become fixated and stubborn!
Therefore,
you don't think about
unexpected situations or crisis response capabilities...
in exchange for gaining a sense of security
from actions you can perform without thinking,
your resilience against crises
becomes weaker!
I suppose that's how it is...
Yesterday,
because I couldn't listen to my usual
relaxing music,
I felt restless...
<How to handle it> ↓
It's different from usual and noisy, and it's unpleasant, but...
Well! It can't be helped!
It'll work out somehow!
It's only for the commute!
I did this before I started using earphones!
I can manage somehow!
By doing that,
I convinced myself,
and dealt with the restlessness and discomfort
of having forgotten my earphones!
For people who can do this normally,
it's so obvious that
I'm sure they can do it easily!
However...
There are people who struggle with this, right!
I, too, am more of a
type that tends to be that way...
I am very careful about it!
You see, if...
It has to be this way!
I must do this!
or things like that,
discomfort!
or being unable to get away from it...
anxiety!
or it ends up amplifying...
When that happens,panicsets in, right...
agitation, confusion, nervous excitement...
Anxiety, discomfort, fixation...
There are individual differences in this,
and where one's bias lies,
I don't know, but...
struggling with developmental disability tendencies...
struggling with anxiety tendencies...
or just having a general tendency to struggle with it...
But in the end, they all
seem to come from this flexibility
not working well, I wonder~
That is the conclusion I reached!
People tend to think about causal relationships or cause and effect
but...
Rather than thinking about that,
Flexibility!
wouldn't it be better to master
that instead...?
Certainly,
forming habits is important, but...
that alone isn't enough, is it!
Instead of finding comfort in that...
in various situations
being able to think in many different ways!
This is the secret to living easily!✨
You thought so too, didn't you?😊
Adaptability
flexibility
resilience
How do you
acquire these?
That is precisely
what getting used to it is, right?
The habit of flexibility!
I think it would be good
if we could do that~✨
Regarding the one sentence I wrote at the end of yesterday's article,
the part about wanting to be careful,
was about this!✨
