My second daughter's cram school as a high schooler✨
It's April🌸 The new school year has started!✨
It makes you want to turn over a new leaf and try something new!
A refreshing, pleasant breeze is blowing through.
My second daughter who is now a high schooler✨
In junior high, due to friendship issues, she developed physical and mental health problems from orthostatic dysregulation,
and while there were times when her school attendance was unstable, she spent her third year of junior high living a relatively stable life.
Even so, her mental development is still just a little bit away from being complete.
She is trying to form her own shape regarding her values and differences concerning herself and others.
Her adjustments are still a bit awkward, but she is able to understand them herself.
Her activities in the light music club allow her to walk through life lively and freely.
The fact that she sings has become one of her own concepts.
I proposed the next step to such a second daughter of mine✨
Going to cram school!😊
My second daughter doesn't want to go to cram school...
Because she doesn't want to go to cram school, she does self-study on her own.
She only goes to an acquaintance's private home for English.
Her grades aren't bad either.
It's not that there is a problem with her learning!
As expected,
"I don't want to go to cram school~" (I know, I know, I understand😊)
Deploying the thought-switching strategy
From around the autumn of the first year of high school, you'll decide whether to go into the humanities or sciences, right~
It seems better to think about the direction and decide, right~
You are the type who plans and works steadily with plenty of time!
So, I think it would be good if you could think about it little by little in advance😊
Yeah... I get that, but... I'm just not sure about going to cram school...
She understands what she needs to do. She just has a sense of resistance toward cram school... (lol)
It's not like it's for studying! (Right! Studying is mostly self-study. The purpose is different)
What kind of things have I done so far?
What kind of things did I like?
What kind of things am I interested in?
It's a place where you think about those kinds of things!
It's hard to think about it all by yourself, but the seniors who have just gone through it will listen to you and think about it with you✨
Also, what we do is think about problems that don't have a single answer, and share our opinions and discuss them...
It's good to be able to talk to seniors who are just a little older.
It's good because I can't think about myself on my own.
It's good to think about problems without answers and share opinions.
But... (she seems unable to make up her mind).
(She's quick to understand, as expected! It's about her own feelings, right?😊)
(Since she understands this much, it seems better to have a third party explain it!)
(Let's go to an individual information session and hear the details directly.)
At the individual information session, hearing from a third party, especially a professional, really sinks in!✨
The senior in charge (teaching assistant) is a graduate of the school, and even a classmate of my eldest daughter since kindergarten.
Someone she knows well is telling her all sorts of things!
She realized it was a very safe place😊 If anything, she probably found it fun (lol).
That's right! It's also the cram school my eldest daughter attended✨
There are people who know my older sister! There are people who know me!
That environment must have given my second daughter a great sense of security.
On top of that, my eldest daughter works part-time as a teaching assistant at a different branch of this cram school.
That fact is also having some kind of effect on my second daughter.
It's April, and my second daughter is starting to think of herself as a high school student from today!😊
A cram school information session on this day✨
She's even thinking proactively about the individual information session!
Perfect timing!💕
I tried inviting her by saying, "It's a bit early, but it wouldn't hurt to think about what it's like, so why don't you try it just for the first year of high school (since the term is from April to November), and if it doesn't suit you, you can quit? Why don't you try it for just the first year?"
While I was inviting her like that, we headed to the individual information session!
I had everything prepared, but I had decided that if she didn't show interest at the individual session, I would give up on her joining.
So, since my second daughter said she wanted to try it✨, she has taken another step
and is now standing at the starting line to deepen her self-understanding!
Oh✨ It looks like she's about to start the process of establishing herself😃
As a parent, I've started looking forward to her starting cram school too💕
<The next step!>
There are things I want my second daughter, who is becoming a bit more stable, to achieve in high school!
Middle school was a time of breaking down her sense of self, but lately she's been building it back up a bit. High school is also a time to deepen her understanding of the path she wants to take in the future.
For my second daughter, who is the serious and diligent type, I recommend university admission via school recommendation. However, if she misses out on a school recommendation and has to take the general entrance exam, it would be difficult for her mental and physical health. I want to think about preparing for school recommendations and AO (Admissions Office) recommendations in parallel. This is a view I share with my second daughter.
So, although it's a bit early, I wanted to get the groundwork ready with plenty of time for AO recommendations!
My eldest daughter took the AO recommendation exam. Her strengths are her study abroad experience and English, but she wants to pursue science-related subjects... Entrance exams these days are so diverse, I have no idea what's going on...
This is the cram school my eldest daughter found and chose to attend just before her exam!✨
Create a personal history and build a portfolio. Dig deep into yourself and bring out your interests and strengths. Think about questions with no right answers within a limited time, express your opinions, and discuss them. It's full of experience programs that you can't find at school and wouldn't normally experience.
I believe it's a wonderful cram school where she can cultivate the skills needed not just for entrance exams, but also for taking on challenges in society✨
So, to be honest, the price is quite high.
But for me, I'm investing in that value. It's the same reason I chose a private school. I believe the value gained there is extremely high. That's why I don't hesitate to invest in it. What she gains will be very significant✨
The number one goal I want her to achieve at this cram school is,
Self-exploration!✨
In order for my second daughter to establish herself, and to expand her future,
I wanted her to start looking at this,
little by little😊
My second daughter became interested after the individual information session!
Of course, I signed the contract right there on the spot✨
I am so excited for my second daughter's life at cram school💕
My second daughter, please enjoy your cram school!✨
