At the heart of this song is

the emotion of someone who wishes to return, yet fears doing so.

The place to return to, and the place one does not want to leave.

In the story "Lost Light," the protagonist Kazuma is currently with his classmate, Koharu.
Additionally, in the past, there were Princess Himuka and her daughter, Iyo.

Sometimes, people end up loving two places at the same time.

The place where you were born and raised, and the place where you are now.

The person waiting for you, and the person you want by your side.

A promise continuing from the past, and feelings born right before your eyes.

Neither one is a lie.

It is precisely because both are real that you cannot choose.

The word "Shift" implies movement, transition, and displacement.
However, when time shifts, it is not just the scenery that changes.

The future I believed in until yesterday changes into something else.

You can no longer meet the person you thought you would see.

You no longer want to lose the person you were supposed to leave behind.

It wasn't that time shifted, but

the place where my heart belongs had changed before I knew it.

This "Shift – Time Fugue" flows with that confusion that could never be put into words.

The reason I couldn't say "I want to go home"

I want to go home.

If I say those words, I will leave someone behind.

I want to stay here.
If I wish for that, I will betray someone waiting in another time.

That is why I cannot say anything.
Instead of expressing my true feelings, only time passes by.

This song is not for those who have made a decision.

It is a song for those who cannot decide.

In Kazuma's case, it is Princess Hinata, his daughter Iyo, and Koharu.

No matter which one he chooses, he hurts someone.
No matter which one he chooses, he loses a part of himself.

That is precisely why the melody does not move in a straight line.

They almost overlap, but are slightly off.
Just when they seem to have drifted apart, they return to the same place again.

It is as if your heart is swaying between two different times.

a melody that confirms what remained even after it was lost.
