August 11, 2024 (Sun) ☆ 'The Other Asakusa Kid' A duel at high noon, a conversation with Master Beat Kiyoshi. @ Koenji Pundit. 'Shinjuku Black Market' flea market. A day of losses and forgotten items.
Woke up at 5:30.
I was definitely sleep-deprived, but I forced myself to wake up.
Wrote and uploaded my diary.
Finished the diary by 7:00.
By 9:00, Harada Senmonka (a video creator who is Tomonori Jinnai's right-hand man),
Ryoga Wakabayashi (a broadcast writer who launched 'Kuhon Kogyo' at 22),
and Kongo-san, a genius, multi-personality, handsome artist with an intractable disease, all gathered.
It was time to organize the materials, photos, and videos for the duel at high noon with Master Beat Kiyoshi,
but I was already aware that I had too many cards in my hand.
When it comes to the history of Two Beat, it is inevitable for me to get into the nitty-gritty details.

I also looked into various recent appearances.

Three days ago at Koenji Pundit, I did a live show with a 13-year-old middle school newspaper kid,
and today it's a conversation with a 75-year-old senior citizen.
The gap between the two makes me dizzy.
Furthermore, I'm pressed for time today,
because there's the 'Shinjuku Black Market' Vol. 7 flea market,
so I have to price the items I'm selling
and get them organized.
A rush job to be ready for the 11:00 arrival.
And in the middle of the live show,
Kongo-san and Wakabayashi-kun will slip out
to head over to the 'Shinjuku Black Market' venue in advance.
Once the TV monitor is loaded, the three of us won't fit in the car.
I'll head to Koenji Pundit by bicycle.
Arrived drenched in sweat under the scorching sun.

During preparations, it was discovered that I hadn't brought
the remote control for the monitor.
Wakabayashi-kun has to go back and get it.
This has become a regular event lately.

Makeup by Kongo-san.

As expected, unlike Wakabayashi-kun's 'Fukuwarai' (blindfolded face-making game),
the makeup artist's eyebrow drawing is skillful.

At 11:30, Master Kiyoshi arrived.
We filmed a short video in front of Pundit.
Started at 12:00. A two-hour showdown.

I knew it from when I went to the Master's shop, Yokohama Star☆Ba, a few days ago,
but Master Kiyoshi was talkative and in top form.
When I brought up the France-za era,
the fact that he could accurately recite the old routines
gave me goosebumps.

He even spoke openly about the various scandals
as the multi-talent number one in the entertainment world.

Even stories that might seem distant to the average person
were all fascinating to me.

The issue of their duo name before Two Beat,
the 'Harkey' problem, which is the other Two Beat in the lyrics of 'Asakusa Kid',
the involvement of the mysterious resident writer Kato-san, and so on.
What I didn't know was the existence of a study group
organized by reporter Nobuo Hanai,
consisting of these three groups: Master Ayanokoji Kimimaro, Tsurutaro Kataoka, and Two Beat.
I had never dug into this story before.

The two hours were up in the blink of an eye.
I announced that we were out of time and brought it to a close.
We didn't even make it to the Manzai boom.
Kiyoshi-shisho seemed like he hadn't finished talking.
We declared a second installment and shook hands.
Photo time.

The editor brought me the new book by Matsukoi Sugie.
It's a book version of my serialization in 'Merma Junpo'.
In addition to the galley proofs, they had added
a piece about me at the beginning.
I was moved.
I skimmed through it, and it was incredibly interesting.
And, Beat Kiyoshi's 'The Other Asakusa Kid' was
highly praised, which synced perfectly with today's live show.
It's a book I'd give an A+ recommendation.

For those who love entertainment history,
it serves as a first-class resource,
so I hope you will check out the stream of this day's event.

Ryoga Wakabayashi came to pick me up from the Shinjuku venue
and drove me to Koenji.
We arrived at the flea market venue 30 minutes late.

As expected, between the lack of sleep and the two hours of talking,
I ran out of gas.
Fighting off drowsiness while dozing,
I stayed until 6:00 PM.

Mr. Ishibashi, a basketball team coach, was among the customers.
He's a big guy at 2 meters 10 centimeters tall!!
His personality is also easygoing and kind.

As always, I ended up buying various things from other booths too.

A commemorative photo with the store manager, Hattori-kun.

I wanted to spare the two of them,
and also so the driver could drink alcohol,
I drove home from Shinjuku.

After getting home, I realized I had left
the TV and my bicycle at Pundit.
Why did I forget about this?
Pundit was already into its night session.
So, I called the manager, Mr. Okuno, to have him bring the TV monitor
out of the shop,
and I went to pick it up by car.

I put the TV in the car
and headed straight for 'Kosugiyu', but
in front of 'Shirouto no Ran',
I ran into Masashi Tashiro.

There had been reports of him being seen around here many times,
but I finally met him.
When I told him I was doing a live show at Pundit with Go-chan and Okite Porsche,
he said, 'I was just at Gyuzo's 60th birthday party a while ago!'
When I said, 'I watch your YouTube,'
he replied, 'I've cut ties with that place!'

'I want to get into the cold water bath at the public bath!!'
You could say that this is the biggest motivation
for which I live through the summer.

After feeling completely refreshed, I returned to Asagaya and tried to get takeout from my usual sushi place,
but because of the crowds at the Asagaya Tanabata Festival,
I lost sight of them, and Ryoga Wakabayashi lost his phone.
We managed to meet up, and in the end, we headed across the river.

We settled down at 'Yatai-zushi'.

Regarding the opening music for the birthday celebration on August 18th.
I just can't seem to make a decision.
I've listened to many royalty-free classical pieces, but
Kongo-kun is truly knowledgeable about this.
I'll have him listen carefully to my preferences and needs,
and leave the mixing to him.
I heard stories about Ito-kun from Rangatay.
Fuwa-chan is the same,
as is the female announcer who hates the smell of aging,
but regardless, we are living in a society of self-restraint.
A long day has come to an end.
Tomorrow is the wrap-up party for 'Asahi Geino'.
And then, the 8/18 live show.
For this, the venue has standing room, and the folding chair seats
have only a few left (Hurry!!)
However, I had completely forgotten to announce that there will be a stream available the whole time.
