I Loved White Stationery Too Much
For a long time, I have stuck to the rule of "only buying white stationery."
There are various reasons for this.
When there are too many colors on my desk, I feel restless, and it makes it look like things are multiplying.
So, by deciding on white, I can avoid buying unnecessary things.
……Or so I thought.
Following that logic, I also made my desk white.
However, an unexpected problem arose here.
First of all, a white desk is hard on the eyes.
Furthermore, when I place white paper on the desk and take a picture with my smartphone, the boundaries disappear.
Scanning apps and business card management tools also tend to fail.
And most seriously, even when I placed white stationery on the white desk, it didn't stand out at all.
Everything just blends in.
My favorite white pen, my white pen case, and my white business card holder all just quietly melt into the background.
After much deliberation, I introduced a gray desk mat.
This should have made the stationery stand out.
However, this time, the photos I took ended up looking like monochrome works of art.
It seems that as a result of loving white stationery too much, I have left my sense of color somewhere along the way.
