⑦ An Unforgettable Day in 2025 ⭐
The day I was most moved this year was Monday, October 13th.
I had failed at a company meeting at the beginning of October, and I had been worrying about it ever since.
I convinced myself, 'I'm trying so hard, so why isn't my conversation improving?' and I started to hate speaking in Japanese.
So, I decided to consult my precious teacher, Yuyu-sensei, and sent her a long message on Discord.
However, there was no reply for three days.
I thought, 'The teacher is kind, but she might be very busy,' and I stopped expecting a reply.
But somewhere in my heart, I also thought, 'The teacher isn't that kind of person.'
This is because I know she is someone who carefully replies to every single viewer's comment on Instagram, YouTube, and so on.
Therefore, I believed there was no way she wouldn't reply to my consultation.
And then, the day of the conversation class arrived. It was October 13th!
That day, I realized! Yuyu-sensei was no ordinary teacher.
The class began, the teacher presented a topic, and divided the students into two breakout rooms.
And then, she invited me into Yuyu-sensei's room.
My classmate, Kin-san, was also there.
The teacher said to me, 'Before we get into today's topic, let's talk about Sudar-san's concern,' and I spoke directly about my failure at the company meeting.
Both the teacher and Kin-san listened to my story seriously, and while kindly encouraging me, they taught me how to overcome the wall of conversation.
I was truly happy, and my heart was full.
I was moved, thinking, 'The teacher is such a truly kind person. And Kin-san, what a wonderful friend,' and tears overflowed, leaving me unable to speak.
That one-hour class became a special consultation session for me.
Thirty minutes later, it was time to switch breakout rooms, and next, I entered Kaito-sensei's class.
Even while moving, Kin-san gave me many words of encouragement.
Then, Kaito-sensei asked, 'What were you talking about just now? How far did you get with Yuyu-sensei?'
I replied, 'We were talking about my failure at last week's meeting. We didn't get into today's topic at all.'
Then the teacher asked, 'What kind of failure was it?'
I told him honestly, 'At a meeting with the company president, I didn't understand the meaning of the word application, and when the president asked me, Is what you're saying actually getting through? I panicked and muted myself in the middle of it.'
I thought the teacher would surely encourage me seriously, just like Yuyu-sensei.
However, Kaito-sensei suddenly started laughing.
At first, I was embarrassed and my face turned red.
But somehow, I felt like I was talking to a friend from my university days.
Among my old friends, there were those who, instead of seriously encouraging me whenever trouble occurred, would laugh and lighten the mood.
Since graduating from university, I have been surrounded only by serious and respectable people, and my days were a bit boring, so I was very happy to meet someone who could laugh at my failure for the first time in a while.
That day, having been encouraged and made to laugh like this, became a wonderful day that remains deeply in my heart.
I am really glad I participated in the holiday class!
Both Yuyu-sensei and Kaito-sensei are truly wonderful teachers!!!
They taught me not only Japanese conversation but also important things about life, and my motivation has returned.
I want to keep doing my best from here on out!
