A question that starts with "It's okay to have days like that, isn't it?"
Hello. Thank you for your hard work today as well.☺️
This is Yuki, who has no luck.
A Saturday with no plans is "boring," isn't it?
A parade of lethargy and laziness.
It was a day like that, but the words my mother suddenly muttered, "It's okay to have days like that, isn't it?" wouldn't leave my head, so I thought a little about "boredom" in my mind.
The title is coolly in English.😎 (I looked it up)
I hate being bored
First of all, I hate being bored.
Because boredom makes me use my smartphone.
I open my phone for no reason, my fingers reach for Instagram for no reason, I watch Reels for no reason, and 1-2 hours pass by for no reason.
And it passes by for no reason two or three times...
As you can see, if I do things like this, the day ends on its own, right?
Today, in particular, I spent a day without any productivity like this.
That's why my mother's "It's okay to have days like that, isn't it?" sounded somehow different.
I thought, "Even though what I really should be doing is different...", but then I tried thinking, "What exactly is what I really should be doing?"🧐
What I really should be doing?
While soaking in the bathtub, I was muttering to myself.
"My assignments aren't finished, I haven't really prepared for studying abroad, there's so much to do!!" and...
💦I remembered that there are many things I really should be doing, let alone studying for English qualifications, finishing assignments, cleaning my room, and studying for my study abroad destination, so I simply thought, "I should just do these when I'm bored!
".Furthermore, since my future dreams are vague, I also thought that if I set clear goals for the future and analyzed what I should do now, I could make better use of my boredom
.Like reading books in my major, studying languages, or applying for company information sessions.
However, here comes my antithetical self.
"Can I really do such serious things properly?"
Well...
Since it's a rare day off, I wanted to do what I really want to do if possible.
Certainly, a university student's time is limited. To do what I really want to do in the future, I have to be highly conscious and do various things. I'm quite a serious person, so since I was in junior high and high school, I thought I had to study if I had any free time.
However, lately, I've been taking advantage of being a university student and being free, and I've only been lazy.
So, just like when I was in junior high and high school, I was stubbornly thinking that I should study seriously, but looking back, I started to think that maybe I was just satisfied with myself sitting at a desk and doing things properly.
I'm not bored, and there are so many things to do that they never end, but the thought popped into my head that I don't have to be bound by that, and I can live more easily.
What I really want to do!
I thought again about what I really want to do.
But in reality... it didn't come out!!
Because I have an indecisive personality and think too much,
while I was thinking "touring sightseeing spots" or "reading tons of novels?"
I couldn't convince myself, thinking "but I definitely won't keep it up" or "I don't want to leave the house," and in the end, there might not have been anything that really clicked!😢
But, remembering that I originally liked music and had a period where I was making songs, and that I like writing, I was able to think that something like my identity?it might be good to start playing the acoustic guitar even if I get bored of it, or borrow tons of novels from the library and read them all day at home!
Even if there isn't anything that strongly resonates with me as "this is it!", trying things out that I'm even slightly interested in or think might be goodmight be something that can only be done with the limited time of a university student.
Supplementary note
I'm saying I'm bored so much, but as I said earlier, things to do are piling up, I'm continuing the sport I've been doing since junior high and high school in a club, I've joined another different club, and I continue to play the piano I like as a hobby...
There are, of course, things I should do and things I've been doing for a long time.
Even so, when I seriously look back on my life, thinking that maybe I'm only doing serious things, I thought, maybe it's okay to try more new things than I expected!
And, it's a blessing to have time to think, isn't it?🌷
I also thought it wouldn't be bad to reflect on myself or think (too) deeply about something while in the bath or in bed, even if I'm not doing anything.
That's exactly why I thought it would be okay to have a self that can laugh and end it with "It's okay to have days like that, isn't it?".
It's become long, but that's it for today.
For those of you who are also worried about being too serious, here is a serious person!
so I would be happy if you could worry with me.😌
Well then. I'd be happy if you'd meet me again.✨😊
