Even with AI, you cannot make money from a side hustle.
"Anyone can easily make money using ChatGPT."
"If you create text or images with AI, you can easily make 50,000 yen a month as a side hustle."
Recently, I see such words often.
However, I will start by saying something harsh.
Just using AI will not earn you a single yen in a side hustle.
This is because AI is not a machine that generates money, but a tool to assist your work.
It is the same as buying a high-performance computer and not having work come to you automatically. Even if you register for AI, learn prompts, and become able to create beautiful text or images, that alone will not result in income.
So, what is the difference between people who can make money using AI and those who cannot?
In this article, I will explain the reason in detail.
Reason 1: Using AI itself no longer has value.
Until a little while ago, just being able to "use AI" had a sense of novelty.
But now, anyone can use AI from their smartphone. Text, images, videos, and brainstorming can all be shaped in a few minutes.
In other words, being able to use AI is becoming less of a special skill.
Customers do not pay money because you used AI.
Sales increased
Work time was reduced
Problems were solved
Desired information was obtained
Fun or excitement was gained
They pay money for such "results" and "value".
"Made with AI" is merely an explanation of the production method. What matters is whose problems the final product solves and how.
Reason 2: You are trying to sell the answers AI provides exactly as they are.
If you ask AI to "write an article about side hustles," it will immediately produce a plausible-sounding text.
However, even if you post it as is, in most cases, it will not be read.
The reason is simple.
The safe, generic text created by AI lacks your own experiences, failures, emotions, and specific examples.
What readers want to know is not just the generic correct answers found everywhere.
"Where did you actually fail when you tried it?"
"What did you change to get results?"
"Can I really do this even as a beginner?"
There is value in these parts that only a living, breathing human can talk about.
It is fine to have AI create the foundation. However, you are the one who adds value at the end.
The person who copies AI output and stops there versus the person who adds their own experience and delivers it. This gap grows larger the longer you continue.
Reason 3: You are only creating, not selling.
A common trap for side hustle beginners is the assumption that "if you build it, they will come."
You wrote a note. You published a Kindle book. You created images. You posted videos.
You worked this hard, yet your revenue is zero.
Then, you give up, thinking, "I have no talent" or "AI side hustles don't make money."
However, creating a product and selling a product are two different jobs.
Decide who your product is for. Research the problems your target audience faces. Think of a title that catches the eye. Post on social media. Observe the reactions and make improvements. If necessary, make individual proposals.
For monetization, these kinds of unglamorous actions are essential.
AI speeds up product creation, but it does not automatically build trust with customers.
Reason 4: Seeking results too quickly
Many people who start a side hustle are in need of money.
Living expenses are not enough. Anxious about the future. There are things I want. I don't want to rely solely on my company salary.
Those feelings are by no means bad. In fact, they become strong energy for taking serious action.
However, if you jump at words like "earn money in 3 days" or "100,000 yen a month just by copy-pasting" out of impatience, you will likely end up taking a detour.
Your first post doesn't get read. The first product you release doesn't sell. You get rejected even when you make a proposal.
In a side hustle, these things are normal.
People who can release something small, observe the reaction, and improve it many times over are stronger than those who try to hit the jackpot on the first try.
What AI shortens is work time. It does not reduce the trial and error itself to zero.
Reason 5: Worrying alone and stopping action
There is no single correct answer for a side hustle.
That is precisely why you get lost when you start alone.
"Am I on the right track?"
"What should I sell?"
"What should I do today?"
The more you search and gather information, the more options you have, and you may end up doing nothing at all. It is not uncommon for people to keep asking AI questions and end up only feeling like they have studied.
What is necessary to get results is not to keep increasing your knowledge, but to set a deadline and execute one thing.
And, a great source of strength for continuing to take action is having peers who are headed in the same direction and an environment where you can share your progress.
So, how should you use AI to make money?
The answer is do not make AI the main character.
The main character is, and always will be, you.
Take stock of your own experiences and strengths
Decide whose problems you will solve and what those problems are
Create a small product or service
Actually deliver it to people
Observe the reaction and make improvements
Within this process, you can have AI help with research, brainstorming, drafting text, creating images, and organizing tasks.
If you do that, AI will not be a "magic tool that makes money for you," but a powerful partner that increases your volume of action and speed of improvement.
What is important is not perfect preparation.
Today, find the problem of one person.
Today, post one thing.
Today, make one proposal.
That accumulation will lead to your first yen.
