When you hear the word "torture," you imagine a gruesome scene where someone is being mentally and physically tormented. "Torture" used as a means to force an enemy to confess information is often so cruel that you want to look away.

An anime themed around such "torture" has been airing and streaming since January 2024. Just what kind of terrifying anime could it be...?

That anime is none other than "'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess."

What is "'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess"?

For those who don't know about the "torture" yet, here is a summary.

...Huh? Fluffy, freshly toasted bread? Steaming late-night ramen?

This is different from the "torture" I was imagining.
Yes, this anime isthe world's gentlest torture fantasy.

In this work, which began serialization in Shonen Jump+ in 2019, the story depicts the heartwarming life of the imprisoned Princess receiving "cruel torture" (in the form of good treatment like meals, hot springs, and games) from the Demon Lord's Army's torturer.

Although the Princess maintains a firm attitude, saying "I will never surrender!," she gives in to the sweet temptations and leaks the kingdom's secrets. Sometimes she answers immediately, "Yes, I surrender," upon learning what the "torture" is, or happily says, "There's a "torture" I've been looking forward to all day today."

Also, the Demon Lord's Army holding the Princess captive is heartwarming. It includes the Demon Lord, who looks fierce but dotes on his daughter Mao-Mao, as well as the highest-ranking torturer Tortura, and mid-level torturers Yang-Ki and Yin-Ki, who scheme to ensure the Princess enjoys her "torture." (Honestly, I don't know why this Demon Lord's Army and the Kingdom are fighting...)
