[Ski Jumping] 2026 Olympics and 2025-26 World Cup First Half Schedule

The 2025-26 ski jumping season had a dramatic opening for Team Japan, with a mixed team victory and Nozomi Maruyama (Kitano Construction) achieving three consecutive wins from the start and four straight podium finishes. We will reconfirm the competition schedule for December, as Olympic team candidates are narrowed down, and for the year-end and New Year period, which includes the traditional Four Hills Tournament.

Milano Cortina Winter Olympics (February 6–22, 2026)

First, here is the schedule for the jumping events to be held at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina, Italy (the jumping venue is Val di Fiemme).
The women's individual large hill event will be held for the first time, and both men and women will now have the same two individual events: Normal Hill (NH) and Large Hill (LH). Women's jumping was first introduced at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, and for the two Games up to PyeongChang 2018, this was the only event. In 2022, the mixed team (normal hill) was added to the Olympic jumping program. At the 2026 Olympics, the super team event will be held for the first time, replacing the team event (four men) where Japan won the gold medal at the Nagano Olympics.

2025-26 Jumping World Cup Quick Notes

The Women's World Cup used to be only Normal Hill, but now Large Hill events have increased significantly. Out of 24 individual events before the Olympics, there are 17 Large Hill events compared to 7 Normal Hill events. There was only one event before the end of the year (won by Nozomi Maruyama), so it might be difficult to predict who will be the experts or strong performers on the Normal Hill for the Olympics.
Regarding venues, some athletes might skip the three weeks in mid-to-late January (the Oriental Series in China and Japan) and the Far East tour before the Olympics to adjust in Europe or their home countries. However, for the women, it will be difficult to skip all three weeks because of the event in China. On the other hand, for the men, there are only two events in Sapporo, so it remains to be seen who will participate. The North American event in Lake Placid was cancelled (moved to Klingenthal, Germany), so if they don't participate in the Asian events, they will have zero appearances outside of Europe.
