Self-Care #720-ξ "Suddenly pondering on a summer night🕊️..." The sea of Okinawa and "peace" within the heart.
👇Would you all like to think about "peace" together this August?👇
🕊️ Memories of that summer day's blue sky and sea
It was over 20 years ago.
I was traveling through
Okinawa in the middle of summer.
The endless blue sky and
the open, relaxed atmosphere.
It was a trip that I truly thought
was wonderful, lasting four days and three nights.
However, at the Peace Memorial Park I visited on the final day,
my heart changed completely.
The moment I stepped into the museum,
the travel mood of that day
vanished somewhere far away.
🕊️ Waves of Terror and the Never-Ending Battle
The exhibits at the museum
quietly,
and surely approaching Okinawa,
taught me about the waves of terror.
Even after the day when organized combat was said to have ended,
I was left speechless
by the fact that so many lives were lost.
The blue sea I saw from the park
was far too beautiful.
When I learned that
Iwo Jima, where there was also a fierce battle, lay beyond it,
my heart was tormented by an unbearable sense of emptiness.
🕊️ Conflict is right beside us
Why,
do wars happen?
Not just between nations,
but in places much closer to home,
around us,
small conflicts never cease.
I myself have also
hurt someone while driven by anger.
The desire for revenge
can sometimes become a source of strength to live.
But,
is that anger truly,
Will it make me happy?
I have been thinking about that
for a long time.
🕊️ The moment when 'peace' visits the heart
Strangely enough,
when I see someone I once thought of as an enemy
looking vulnerable for some reason,
the raging fire of anger
can suddenly fade away.
At that moment,
a quiet 'peace' finally visits the heart.
That calm scenery of Okinawa and
the tragic events that occurred there.
These two memories
overlap in my heart.
And,
they teach me
the emptiness of my own anger.
🕊️ The wish to simply live in peace
Anger and a desire for revenge
might become energy for living.
But,
I have learned that
they are very fragile and fleeting.
And,
what remains after that flame dies out
is only a deep silence.
I don't need anything special.
I just want to live peacefully and tranquilly.
On a summer night,
while remembering the sea of Okinawa,
I wish for that from the bottom of my heart.
