Short-short story: Between daily life and dreams

The city is shining with illuminations.
The most glamorous time of the year.
I finally finished work for the day and turned off my PC.
I put on my coat and stepped out of the building,
and the cold winter air wrapped around me in an instant.

On my way to the station, I saw a shop I didn't recognize.
Warm-colored lights were shining through the glass window.
'I never noticed a shop like this before.'
As if drawn in, I opened the door and went inside.
Inside the shop, there were writing utensils, letter paper, envelopes, ink bottles,
and various other sundries, all beautifully arranged as if they had been collected with great care.

Among them, my eyes were drawn to a paper knife made from
whale whiskers.It was said to be an antique craft.
'I'll take this.'
'Isn't it lovely? It's called whale baleen.
Nowadays, due to a shortage of craftsmen, you might not be able to get such beautiful crafts anymore.'
The shopkeeper said that and wrapped it in

wrapping paper
with illustrations of whales swimming on it.

When I got home, a letter from a friend had arrived in the mailbox.
I opened the envelope with the whale paper knife I had just bought.
A card scattered with fun illustrations.
I immediately displayed it on my desk.

Come to think of it, there should be some red wine left that I opened the other day.
I'll make mulled wine
.
I'll add sliced oranges and apples to the warmed wine and honey,
and garnish it with a cinnamon stick.
A lovely aroma drifts through the room.
When I took a sip, I was enveloped in warmth.

That night, I had a strange dream.
A dream of riding on the back of a whale, traveling across the vast ocean under a starry sky.

I woke up in the morning feeling happy.
When I happened to look at my pillow, there was a single long, white, string-like whale whisker.
