~Sensory Impressions~
[Taste!]
Senshuan's Northman is a popular souvenir from Hokkaido.
Born as a 'third type of sweet' that fuses Japanese and Western confectionery,
the Northman has evolved into the 'Nama Northman'
by adding fresh cream.
In April, they opened their first specialty store outside of Hokkaido
inside the ticket gates at Tokyo Station,
which has become a hot topic.
(From Friday, April 24, 2026 to around mid-September 2026)
Because I already know how delicious Northman is,
I've always had a corner of my heart
wanting to try Nama Northman at least once.
But for some reason, no matter how many times I hear them,
Snow Sand, Snow Cheese, Northman...
I get these brands
all mixed up.
Even though they are all very popular
and all sweets I'm curious about.
I know for sure that 'Snowman' is different, at least.
The red bean paste has an indescribable
freshness and simple sweetness.
It's almost as rich and dense as mizuyokan (watery bean jelly).
The fresh cream,
while having a momentary hint of oiliness,
melts away on the tongue,
leaving a natural sweetness and a clean aftertaste.
The thin pie crust is moist.
With its fragrance and a subtle hint of saltiness,
the smooth red bean paste and fresh cream layer together
in perfect harmony.
It is so fresh that you can understand why it's called 'Nama' (fresh),
providing an irresistible sense of satisfaction
for both red bean lovers and fresh cream lovers alike.
It was such a moist and elegant sweet that I found myself regretting not buying a whole box while I was eating it.

[Visual!]
When opened,
it has a square form with the golden-brown color typical of puff pastry.
There is a fresh cream injection point on one side.
When cut in half with a knife,
the thin puff pastry reveals
plenty of fresh cream and red bean paste.

[Olfactory!]
The faint, savory aroma of the puff pastry.
When brought to the mouth,
the natural flavor of the red bean paste drifts through the nose,
and the fresh cream wraps around it mellowly.

[Tactile!]
When you slide a knife through,
there is a layer of puff pastry that is slightly thicker at the bottom.
While smooth,
the slightly grainy texture of the red bean paste and
the generous amount of fresh cream
balance well with the crispness of the puff pastry.

[Auditory!]
One bite.
When you chew, fresh cream overflows from the edges.
Despite being thin, the crisp,
pleasant texture of the puff pastry,
combined with the harmony of the red bean paste and fresh cream,
creates a delightful rhythm.

[Sixth! Sense]
May delicious happiness resonate in your heart as well.
Thank you for the meal.
