Omikuji Mania (May 2026)

Looking back on it now...

The reason I draw omikuji so frequently is because I am a "Great Blessing Man." Ever since I started going to Hatsumode on my own, I have drawn a Great Blessing almost every year. (Though, of course, my memory may be somewhat altered...)

That is also clear from last year's results.

In 2025, out of 29 omikuji, I drew 12 Great Blessings.
A batting average of .410. That's on par with Ichiro in his prime.

However, something unusual is happening to me this year.
By May 2026, I have drawn 9 omikuji, but I have yet to see a single Great Blessing.

Not only that, but I have also drawn one "Curse," which I believe might be a first in my life (though there is a possibility of memory alteration here as well...).

To use an Ichiro analogy, it's like "not being able to get a hit anymore, and also failing to steal any bases." (Or so I think, anyway.)

The omikuji I drew at Kanda Myojin this New Year said, "Do not rush; wait for your time to come."

That must mean I should always keep myself in the best possible condition and "when a good pitch comes, don't let it pass—swing the bat!"

What's important is to continue training every day without comparing myself to others or being swayed by my environment.
