During lunch break, there were whispers in the pantry in front of the coffee server.
"I even heard Yamamoto-senpai talking about rice cookers the other day. A rice cooker... could it be, preparing to live together?"
"Whoa! That's basically assuming they're already dating!"
—Wait a minute, who said anything like that?
Sighing in my heart, I left the pantry.
But it's strange; a rumor like "maybe they're dating" is just like pressing the switch on a rice cooker—it gently warms my heart.
Chapter 2: The New Guy Finally Makes His Rice Cooker Debut
That evening. Miyasaka-kun quietly came over to my desk.
"...Yamamoto-senpai. Um, that rice cooker... it arrived."
"Oh! The Iris Ohyama RC-MGA30, it's finally here."
"I'm cooking with it for the first time today. If you'd like, would you come over to my place?"
I felt the gazes of those around us piercing into me. I could even hear someone behind me whispering, "Seriously!?"
However, I smiled and answered.
"I'll go. Because I want to see your 'finished rice' with my own eyes."
Chapter 3: A White Kitchen, A Scent Just for Two
Miyasaka-kun's room was calmer and tidier than I had imagined.
In the center of it—a deep blue, smart RC-MGA30 stood with dignity.
"It's really stylish. And it's the perfect size for living alone."
"Isn't it? Plus, it supports 50-variety rice cooking, and you can even choose chewy, fluffy, or distinct grains... I'm going with 'chewy' today."
I couldn't help but sigh at the scent of freshly cooked rice that wafted through the air.
He shyly held out a rice bowl.

Chapter 4: The Distance Between Us, Amidst the Steam
On the dining table were rice, salad chicken (made in the rice cooker), simmered vegetables, and barley soup.

"Yeah. But... today, this flavor is more than enough to satisfy me."
The room's lighting dimmed slightly. Quiet background music played.
Beyond the steam of the rice, his expression suddenly turned serious.

"Like 'are you two dating?' or 'preparing to live together'"
My heart gave a thud. So she really had heard it.
"When I heard that... I didn't mind. In fact, I've been thinking that I'd like us to be that way"

"Huh?"
"The same one. Still brand new. I wanted you to have one in your room, too."
Surprise, excitement, and a feeling that made me want to laugh a little.
"Wait, does that mean—"
"Won't you start a life of cooking rice with me?"
His voice was serious, yet soft, and it gently soaked into the depths of my heart.
I nodded and smiled.
“Then maybe it’s okay to make that rumor true. After all, the rice cooking menu is already set to “cooking for two” now.”

“Hey, did you hear? Yamamoto-senpai and Miyasaka-kun are actually dating!”
“I mean, seriously... wasn’t Yamamoto-senpai smiling so much? I’ve never seen that expression on her before.”
“That’s definitely a “rice cooker marriage” for sure.”
