80 Years Since the Atomic Bombing / 2023 / Industrial Promotion Hall Internal Experience Content
In May 2023, when the G7 Summit was held in Hiroshima, the third-year students of the seminar at the time decided to create content for the Peace Match in August.
In 2018, Professor Yamashita (Department of Information Science, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Yasuda Women's University) created a 3D model that reproduced the internal structure based on the blueprints of the Industrial Promotion Hall, the original form of the Atomic Bomb Dome. This time, we started by importing that 3D model data into Unreal Engine and correcting the colors.

In June 2023, after finishing the placement and color correction work in Unreal Engine, we used the filming and editing functions of Unreal Engine to produce footage related to exploring the interior. In addition to the main video, we also produced vertical short videos, and proceeded with the work while sequentially posting them, including the production process, on Instagram, X, and other platforms.
The first clip completed was a walkthrough. We also created a vertical short video and used it as a Reel.
The Industrial Promotion Hall was equipped with an elevator. If you enter straight from the entrance in the center of the north side on the front left, and proceed to the back, there is an elevator that can take you up to the second and third floors.
The Industrial Promotion Hall has a basement. If you enter from the front and proceed to the left, there is an entrance to the basement at the back of the courtyard.
Reproduction of the Industrial Promotion Hall's VIP Room
Starting in May 2023, we collected photographs of the interior of the Industrial Promotion Hall and simultaneously proceeded with an attempt to recreate its atmosphere using Unreal Engine assets. Most of the collected photos were black and white and had poor resolution, but since the entire third floor of the staircase under the dome was a VIP room, we searched for assets that matched the atmosphere based on those photos and began recreating the VIP room.

First, we adopted assets of an old British castle furnished with furniture that had the same atmosphere as the photos, and we stocked parts such as curtains, carpets, furniture, and furnishings used there to create a space that matches the atmosphere of the photos.

On August 13, 2023, the Sanfrecce Hiroshima home game against Urawa was held as a Peace Match, and it was decided that our seminar team would exhibit a joint planning booth with Yasuda Women's High School.

You can see the Atomic Bomb Dome beyond the line connecting the Peace Memorial Museum to the Cenotaph in Peace Memorial Park. This line is called the 'Peace Axis,' and the late Kenzo Tange proposed in his 1950 Hiroshima Peace City Construction Plan that the area north of this axis be a place to realize peace through sports and culture. The new stadium, which will be completed next February, will spread its wings of peace in the place Tange proposed 73 years ago.
At this year's Peace Match, students from the STEAM course at Yasuda Women's High School will present on the Peace Axis, and we will sell book covers designed by students, created by recycling paper cranes offered to the Children's Peace Monument on the same axis. Furthermore, students from Yasuda Women's University, who have been working on creating a 3D model of the Atomic Bomb Dome on the same axis, are using the latest technology to work on reproducing the interior of the Industrial Promotion Hall, the original form of the Atomic Bomb Dome. We are preparing so that you can experience this in VR.

On the day of the Peace Match, we carried out projects such as an exhibition presentation on the Peace Axis by students from Yasuda Women's High School, an exhibition of internal footage of the Industrial Promotion Hall by seminar students, and a VR experience of the Atomic Bomb Dome using high-definition photos. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we had refrained from experiences involving contact objects such as VR, but we were able to operate our first in-person exhibition and experience corner in a long time, and many supporters visited us.
