(Production Log) MG Char's Z'Gok Part 1

I haven't been able to update for a long time, but things have been hectic at work and I've been on many business trips. Even so, I've been making steady progress.

This time it's the Z'Gok. The Jaburo scene in the original series is famous, isn't it?
It's said to be a masterpiece of its era for an amphibious mobile suit. The price is also reasonable.

1. Snap-fit build

There is also a 3-claw version.
Surprisingly sleek lol

It's a kit from about 20 years ago, but the construction is quite good. The details on the soles of the feet are also separate parts, as you'd expect from an MG. Also, the structure is simple, so it's worth tinkering with.

2. Theme

I couldn't buy the Unicorn version that was released on Premium Bandai (I couldn't buy the Gelgoog either...), so I'm going with“making it the Unicorn version through painting.”Also, since it's a machine that would be a 15-16-year-old antique by the time of the Unicorn era, I'll set it up as having been tuned up accordingly.

3. Production scene

3-1. Attachment weapons

Since the claws can be easily swapped, I thought I'd try fitting various things here. As a result, I decided to make these two types of weapons:
1. Gatling gun
2. Drill
I was lucky that there were both 3-claw and 4-claw attachments for the claws.

I looked for various things for the Gatling gun in (1), and while there were various handle types, there weren't any plug-in types, so I made one. The holes aren't perfectly spaced, but it's a 21-barrel Gatling gun lol. The hole diameter is 2mm. It's a simple construction where you just poke 2mm plastic rods into these to complete it.

It would be lonely without a muzzle, so I decided to embed IC clips, but this was the most grueling part of this kit... Why? Because I had to drill 1.5mm holes into 2mm plastic rods 21 times. I was extremely nervous. If the center was even slightly off or the pin vise didn't go in straight, it would be ruined... After all, the clearance after drilling is only 0.25mm lol.

I only had two chances lol
I did my best

The finished product will be in Part 2.

As for the drill in (2), I couldn't make it out of plastic plates, and it would be too heavy if I made it out of putty, so I thought I had no choice but to use a commercially available product, and when I was looking around... I found it. ↓ Ta-da!

The drill diameter of this fit the arm perfectly, so I adopted it.

3-2. Adding thrusters to the legs

The Z'Gok was excellent during the One Year War, but it's no match for things like the Unicorn with its full psycho-frame, so I added thrusters to the legs to try and secure at least a little bit of mobility.

In the photo, I attached polycaps to make it move a bit, but it didn't work out (due to a lack of technical skill), so I rejected that and settled on a fixed type. The cover is a leftover part from the Qubeley Damned (the toe of a normal Qubeley). I'm attaching this to the back of the shin. However, since the shin has an exquisite curve, it ends up full of gaps, so I filled them with putty.

And so, I scratch-built various things like this. This is the fun part.
Next time, the completion edition.
See you.

P.S. I introduced the Bimi Onikiri for sanding small areas this time.
It's single-cut and thin, so it can sand deep, recessed areas cleanly.
