When Your Heart Can't Keep Up with What's Right
When I'm giving relationship advice,
"You should really dump a guy like that."
"Find someone who will treat you better."
"Let's move on to the next one!"
I see so many people who are told these things over and over by those around them.
And of course, that makes sense.
From a friend's perspective,
"Why are you still spending time on a guy like that?"
is something they might think,
and from an objective standpoint, they're often right.
It's right. It's incredibly right.
It's as right as a perfectly balanced, nutritious meal.
Eat your vegetables. Get your protein. Keep the salt low... Yes, it's healthy (lol).
But you know,
there are times when humans just can't live on what's right alone.
The person themselves knows best
"I should just quit already"
The person involved often knows that better than anyone else.
The messages have decreased. The days we can meet are few.
I don't even feel like I'm being cherished.
It's painful to keep going like this.
I understand everything in my head.
Even so, my heart just can't let go.
If only we could just say to someone we loved until yesterday,
"Okay, this relationship has no future, so it ends today,"
nobody would have to suffer (laughs).
The human heart isn't Excel. You can't just select unnecessary rows and delete them.
If you still like them, it's okay to keep liking them.
I've been listening to relationship advice for a long time, but
I don't think people can switch gears that easily.
If you like them, you still like them.
If you feel frustrated, you're still frustrated.
If you can't forget them,
then for now, you can't forget them.
And that's fine.
Because those feelings are also a part of the time that person has lived.
I don't try to force anyone to be positive.
"But let's look to the future!"
"Value yourself more!"... That's not wrong, either.
But before that,
“Wow, that must have been tough.”
There are nights when you need someone to say, “You still love them, don't you?” more than anything else.
What you need before logical arguments
Of course, I'm not saying you should stay in a painful place forever.
There will come a time when you have to move on.
There are some loves you are better off letting go of.
But you know, if you leave your emotions behind,
and force your body to move forward first,
your heart will come chasing after you from behind, saying, “Hey, wait up!”
(laughs).
So, there are times when you don't need to rush.
“I was in so much pain.”
“I really did love them.”
“I was so frustrated.”
First, acknowledge those feelings yourself.
Sometimes, just doing that can make it a little easier to breathe.
People cannot be saved by correctness alone.
Just because you were told the right answer,
it doesn't mean you'll be able to recover.
But, “being understood”
Sometimes, it's that one word that finally helps you move forward.
Mama Yuko has seen moments like that many times before.
That's why you should be kind to others.
……is what I'd like to say, but
today, there's one more thing.Be a little kind to yourself, too.
You don't have to blame yourself, asking why you're still dwelling on it.
Just for today, it's okay to say, "Well, it can't be helped,"
and leave it at that. You're only human, after all.
There are days like that, too.
Are you okay? Can you manage?
Mama Yuko is right here for you🥰
