For those of you who know it in your head, but for some reason keep stumbling in the same place
I have been working as a counselor and healer for about 18 years.
During that time, I feel like I have kept about half of my work from being talked about too loudly.
Emotional counseling. This much is relatively easy to talk about. However, what I have been facing deep down for a long time was something much older.Areas called "inner child" and "birth trauma".
The moment I put it into words, it suddenly sounds spiritual. I disliked that for some reason, so I kept these terms in the background, a bit reserved, and only spoke about them if asked.
But lately, I have been thinking. While I was being reserved, perhaps the most important part wasn't reaching the people I wanted to reach the most.
Therefore, from now on, I intend to express it firmly and head-on.
Inner child, I am often asked what that is. I can give you any number of dictionary definitions, but based on my own experience, it is this.
Even though you have long understood it in your head, you get frustrated and angry in the same way every time, in the same place.
Even though it should have ended in the distant past, in a sudden moment, your body shrinks first.
I cannot explain the reason well, but when I am in front of people or in certain situations, I suddenly feel small.
That strange feeling.
I believe that is not because your current self is weak, nor because you are not trying hard enough. Rather, it is likely that your self from a long time ago, when you were still small, is still standing there. That sensation.
I call that former self who remains standing there the inner child.
Back then, the thoughts and desires that were suppressed and unfulfilled, the feelings that were hurt and covered up, the lingering grudges—that kind of energy remains within us.
Healing might sound like an exaggeration.
However, what I am doing is simple.
I use healing to loosen the energy that has become hardened and distorted by grudges. After that, if necessary, I return properly to that small self from the past, and my current self properly receives those feelings from back then again. You could say that is almost all there is to it.
But it is a strange thing; when that is received, the present becomes more relaxed. You don't get as angry as before in the same situations. You don't shrink as much as before.
It doesn't mean the world changes. It's just that the snags within you unravel, one by one. The world doesn't change, but the world reflected in your eyes changes, and your experience changes.
It is embarrassing to admit, but at one point, I truly believed that "everyone except me is an enemy." I would brace myself at even a slight word from someone, and I felt like I was always clenching my fists somewhere, just so I wouldn't be attacked first. Thinking about it now, I believe the small me who remained standing in the distant past was desperately trying to protect himself.
When those feelings were received again, even though nothing around me had changed, my fists suddenly unclenched. Even when the same person said the same thing, I didn't get as frustrated, and I wasn't as scared. That feeling of that "strange tension" fading away. I want to hand that experience to as many people as possible.
And there is also an even older area, the time "around birth." This is what is called birth trauma. I will write about this again later, but I believe the root is the same.
Pain and suffering in the subconscious become a block, and I use healing to loosen that block. And then I heal the self that was putting on the brakes with a "I have no value" or a "It would have been better if I hadn't been born" type of great misunderstanding. That is all I do.
While I thought about declaring it proudly, when I tried writing it down, it ended up being a simple story after all.
What happens after healing your inner child or birth trauma is different for everyone. Some people have their blocks removed and move toward what they truly want to do, while others escape from difficult situations; it varies. But I think my job is probably always something this simple.

P.S.
If you found that "feeling" I mentioned earlier somewhat familiar, it is okay. You do not have to force yourself to do anything about it. For those who would like to engage with these kinds of topics a little more, I write about them in my newsletter, including things I do not usually share publicly. Please feel free to join if you would like.

And for when you feel like digging a little deeper and talking directly, I have left a place for trial sessions here as well.
