[Story] #5: How My Article Is Created | Part 2
Thank you for opening this.
I am Dr. Akebono, here to help you transform negative thinking into positive thinking♪
I will continue to deliver content that satisfies your curiosity and desire to learn, so please come back to visit again✨
The first part is stored here, so
please feel free to take it out of the drawer♪
It has been five months since I started this note,
and I have interacted with many people to get to this point,
but in a sense, I feel like I have had more intense interactions than I would have in real life🤭
That is because if I tried to have these interactions in real life, due to location, my own schedule, and so on,
I think it would be quite difficult.
Encounters are woven one by one on a platform like this,
and I am writing while soaking in that joy, haha.
Now, continuing from last time, welcome to Dr. Akebono's world of editing!
3. Refining the note draft
Last time, I shared the process from selecting a topic to typing the loose-leaf draft into a note draft,
and from there, I go through repeated refinements.
Refining is, so to speak, a writer's way of saying checking.
Refining is, so to speak, a writer's way of saying checking.
I want to use them, so I spread them out quite a bit😉
Now then, as for the specific points I keep in mind,
・Break lines as frequently as possible
・Change or add expressions
・Check if it is easy to read
Now, let's break them down one by one.
Break lines as frequently as possible
This leads to later work, specifically point 4, so,
I will write about the connecting points in point 4, but,
thinking about it separately from those connecting points,
the key is to break lines without waste and without forcing it👍
By 'without waste,' I mean if it's bundled in a long sentence,
break it up with line breaks.
After all, it's hard for the reader to read otherwise.
By 'without forcing it,' I mean if there are too many line breaks,
you end up with text that is hard for the reader to follow.
What I keep in mind to break lines without waste and without forcing it is,
to separate them by meaning units.
Or to break lines where there is a comma.
When I say meaning units, I mean being conscious of 'mini-conclusions.'
For example, like in a four-act structure (Ki-Sho-Ten-Ketsu), creating a 'beginning,' 'development,' 'twist,' and 'conclusion' for each sentence.
"One day, a rabbit transformed."
"I witnessed such a rare and skillful scene."
"When I headed in the direction it flew, it was my house."
"I realized that my wife was a rabbit."
If you connect these,
One day, I witnessed a rabbit transform, and when I headed in the direction it flew, it was my house, so my suspicion that my wife was a rabbit turned into certainty.
When you connect them, the speed of understanding changes, doesn't it?
Having line breaks like this increases the speed of understanding✨

Changing or adding expressions
Something often talked about is conjunctions.
I think conjunctions are the prime candidates for changing or adding😂
For example, if 'however' is used repeatedly,
the sentence becomes twisted, and unfortunately, it is no longer simple or easy to understand.
Also, depending on the meaning, there are cases where a different conjunction would be better.
For example,
The society with a declining birthrate and aging population is progressing, and it is being called a super-aging society.
Therefore, when considering where the problem lies, (1)
it can be thought that OO is the problem.
In other words, I think this and that are the problem. (2)
The things I thought I should change were (1) and (2).
For (1), I think there are too many commas in one sentence, so
I should revise it to reduce the number of commas.
After revision: "When thinking about where the problem lies,"
For (2), paraphrasing is a waste, so I will change it to a conjunction
that can lead directly to the core of the matter.
After revision: "Among these, I think OO is the root of the problem."
By revising it this way, I think it becomes easier for the reader to read and easier to develop into my own argument.
-----
Whether it is easy to read
Set up a lead-in that is easy for the reader to understand.
For example, a substance like PR300 could harden red blood cells in the blood and affect the heart and lungs. A specific disease name would be desquamative interstitial pneumonia.
If I write that, will it get across to the reader?
(I wrote the example above randomly, haha; it's a mix of everything, so use it only as a reference.)
If words I don't understand like PR300, red blood cells, or desquamative interstitial pneumonia are lined up, I'd be confused.
That is why I change PR300 to "pathogen or germ,"
change red blood cells to "blood components,"
and change desquamative interstitial pneumonia to "a type of pneumonia,"
so that it is easy to understand even for those without medical or biological knowledge.
By arranging easy-to-understand words, I embed a path to "ease of understanding" into the article.
By doing so, even when someone introduces the article to others,
it can cover a wide range of readers, and with any luck, even lead to a follow.
However, even if an article that is difficult to understand happens to be introduced by someone, it might not attract that audience.
That is because the target audience is different, which causes the problem of failing to make the reader understand.
That is precisely why I use introductions or abstract concepts to "promote" understanding.
(4) Optimization of note drafts
Some people might already know this, but
once you enter a draft on your computer, save it for a moment.
Then, try opening it on your smartphone.
And if the text seems hard to understand,
add more line breaks there.
Since smartphone screens are smaller, it feels different from a computer screen.
Sometimes I adjust things if a comma causes a line break on a smartphone.
There is a reason why I used the word "optimization" in the subheading here.
The majority of readers for note articles are on smartphones.
You could almost say that nearly 90% are on smartphones.
That is why an article that is easy to read on a smartphone
can be called optimized.
(5) Searching for submission projects
Once you've come this far, the rest is easy.
Try looking into submission projects.
The ones hosted by creators??
No, no.
The projects released by note's official team.
The ones that are especially exciting are the projects being recruited by major companies.
There's even a chance you could hit the jackpot.
Because there's a deadline, it would be a waste to miss out on a project you could have submitted to,
just because you didn't know about it.
Also, adding a hashtag for a note submission project,
can help you expect an increase in traffic.
Since it's a highly competitive area with a lot of articles, it's a tag everyone checks,
and the possibility of being featured by note is higher than with tags you add yourself.
That's it for the second part!
Thank you for reading this far.
