Short-Short Story: "The Delightfully Odd Writer" *Weekly Short-Short Note 11/2 Prompt
My teacher is eccentric.
As a high school student aiming to become a writer, I read my teacher's work, "Ito Okashi" (How Delightful), and completely fell in love with their style.
Finding out we lived nearby, I became an uninvited fan and, through a series of events, was taken on as an apprentice.
Since they were an up-and-coming writer, I assumed I would be able to witness their intense, hair-raising writing process up close, but...
"Yoshino-chan, the scones are baked! I tried increasing the ratio of Kita-akari potatoes today."
This is what it's like.
Every day, they bake some kind of sweet and spoil me with it.
Since it is incredibly delicious, I cannot bring myself to refuse, so I have no choice but to enjoy it with tea.
"Teacher, isn't the deadline approaching?"
"Hmm? It'll work out somehow."
Saying such carefree things, they stuff their cheeks with a scone like a hamster.
An adorable, sweets-loving, odd writer.
(A delightfully odd writer, indeed.)
As I think such silly thoughts, my cheeks flush the color of tea.
-> I participated in this project.
