I have graduated from Sarasa Multi
When it comes to ballpoint pens, Sarasa is my only choice.
It has been 20 years since I was moved by the writing comfort when I first used it at work. I also love the vibrancy of the colors. Even in my private life, I keep a stock of black and red Sarasa Clips and refills. Still, why is it that even though I always decide where to put my ballpoint pens, I find them missing before I know it?
For carrying around, I used the Sarasa Multi. It is a multi-functional ballpoint pen. Black is essential. The mechanical pencil is for writing in my planner. Since plans change, I need to be able to erase them. On my days off, I use red to circle things. Green is useful to have for various reasons. And blue is my favorite color.
I tried using blue-black for the black ink. When I had my husband buy refills for the blue, it ended up being pale blue. I used them until the rubber where my fingers rest became loose. And I did that with two of them.
However, one day, I realized something. Lately, I haven't been using all these functions. I have graduated from using a paper planner. I manage my schedule with an app.
The fact that I had run out of blue refills also gave me a push. I decided to graduate from the Sarasa Multi. I don't need so many colors anymore.
Next, I will go with the Sarasa Grand. It is a high-end model among the Sarasa line. I have admired it for a long time. After doing some research online, I went to a stationery store. Not the stationery section of a store, but an actual stationery shop.
I chose blue-black for the pen body itself. I was quite torn between that and blue-gray. But for the ink color, I still prefer blue. However, I use a 0.5mm blue Sarasa Clip at work. I want to keep my work and private life separate. What should I do? After much thought, I bought a 0.7mm blue refill for the Sarasa Grand. I like bold lines. This gives my private life a special feeling that is different from work.
I put the Sarasa Grand, now set with the 0.7mm blue refill, into my blue pen case. The pen case holds two pens. Until now, I had been keeping an eraser in it. A MONO one. What should the other pen be? I want a different color. Maybe a felt-tip pen or a highlighter. A light blue might be nice. Not sky blue. A blue diluted with plenty of water. I think of it as a color different from blue.
Or perhaps silver. The same as my note account. If it's silver, it will probably end up being a ballpoint pen after all. I will think about it slowly. For me, stationery is a practical, consumable item. It is not something to collect. Even for a pen that costs a few hundred yen, I will use the next one only after the current one is lost, broken, or runs out of ink. I don't buy many different types.
For the first time in a long while, I stayed in a stationery store until I was satisfied. After that, I visited two stationery sections. But the fun of choosing one more pen continues.
