I turned my kids into handmade photo cards.

I have created images and posted them on X and note
many times before.
But this time, I tried a slightly different approach.
I turned my kids into
photo cards that I can keep on hand.
I printed two images side-by-side on L-size paper, cut them out,
printed the logo for the back, cut and pasted that too,
laminated them, cut them again, and rounded the corners.
Even though I started on a whim,
I realized I had been working for about three hours since the evening.

👐 From the screen to the palm of my hand
Usually, even when I create images,
they basically stay inside the screen.
Posting them on X, compiling them on note,
or looking back at them on my smartphone or computer.
That is fun in its own way, but
when I actually print, cut, laminate, and
make them into something I can hold in my hand,
the impression changed more than I expected.
Just by being individual cards,
what were once just "images"
feel a little bit more like "merchandise."

📷 A different kind of fun from a photo book
Actually,
I already have one photo book of Toki and Maya.
A photo book that you look at while flipping through pages
is, of course, special.
There is a feeling of it remaining as a complete volume,
and I like that very much as well.
But the cards were a little different.
Being able to pick them up one by one.
Being able to rearrange them.
Being able to choose and display only my favorites.
Adding the logo to the back makes them look a little bit
like cards that were actually issued.
Those small differences
were more fun than I thought.

💠 Toki, Maya, and Charu too
This time, I made cards not only for Toki and Maya,
but also for Charu.
Having Charu suddenly mixed in
among the cool duo
is very much like our family, and I like it.
When I line them up,
even though they each have a different vibe,
they feel like they are properly in the same world,
which made me a little happy.
When I line them up on black fabric and take a picture,
the colors of the cards look a bit sharper,
and even though I made them myself, I feel like they look "the part."

📝 Things I'm glad I made
The process itself was quite tedious.
Printing, cutting, pasting,
laminating, and cutting again.
It gets a little misaligned, it reflects light,
and rounding the corners takes a surprisingly long time.
Even so, when I finished and lined them up,
I felt quite satisfied.
Having something created digitally
end up in a physical form like this
is, after all, a bit special.
I thought it would be nice
to gradually make more cards
whenever I have more images I like.
This time, it was a record of me
making handmade photo cards of my pets.
