The 85th Prophet's Meeting: Geki-Oh
At the last Prophet's Meeting, we predicted the Naoki Prize. Just as the alcoholic Kimi-chan predicted, Akira Shimazu's "Kafee no Kaerimichi" won. Congratulations, Akira Shimazu. The title of Prophet will be bestowed upon the alcoholic Kimi-chan. Furthermore! The "Naoki Prize for Wanting to Lose a Little Weight" will be awarded to Takeaki Daimon, author of "Shinto no Shonin." Mr. Daimon, please find us and get in touch. The prize and money will be awarded from the pocket money of the Naoki who wants to lose a little weight.
Now, the time has finally come. Since many of my readers are theater people, you surely know about it. Geki-Oh is coming soon.
Geki-Oh is a playwright contest where entries are judged based on performances under 20 minutes long with three or fewer characters. This time, it will be held at Showa Bunka on February 7th and 8th. I will also be participating as an operations staff member. As you all know, theater isn't made by actors alone.
I will predict who will become the Geki-Oh this time.
The eight contestants are as follows.
Junichiro Amano: "Yudofu"
Sotetsu Nakano: "In Sünde Ieben"
Tetsuya Sekido: "Shiritakute"
Aya Hasegawa: "Seisei Ruten"
Kotaro Shingu: "Teinei na Owari no Aizu"
Hirotaka Watayama: "Neko no Issho"
Yuta Tamura: "Kakegae no Nai Hito to no Deaika-ta"
Akihiro Shada: "Chinmoku"
(Titles omitted)
Below are the contestants in order of the number of successful predictions.
MacDougall (17 successful predictions)
The 2026 Geki-Oh will be won by Hirotaka Watayama's "Neko no Issho."
Prophet Alcoholic Kimi-chan (16 successful predictions)
I think Yuta Tamura, with "Kakegae no Nai Hito to no Deaika-ta," will be chosen as this year's Geki-Oh.
Naoki Who Wants to Lose a Little Weight (12 successful predictions)
For Geki-Oh, I'm drawn to the title "Teinei na Owari no Aizu."
Red Comet Shu (10 successful predictions)
The 2026 Geki-Oh will be the unreadable German title, Sotetsu Nakano's "In Sünde Ieben."
Of course! We are rooting for all the participating teams. Also, this is just a prediction, not a gamble. Even if you guess correctly, all you get is the title of Prophet. Also, we have not received any gifts or entertainment from the Japan Playwrights Association Tokai Branch... but I am deeply involved. Or rather, I am a branch member. This time it's at Showa Bunka, not Nagakute! It's easier to get to! Buy a ticket, tickets are here...
The next prophet is you!
