薪割りDay1!/Wood splitting day 1

2025年7月末、夏のピークシーズン。晴天で蒸し暑い日に、僕の薪割りライフはスタートしました🪵

使っている薪割り斧は、直売所のフリーマーケットで、たまたま1本だけ売りに出されていたもの。手に取った時、「やったー！これでやっと薪割りができる」と思ってワクワクしながら我が家に迎え入れました。  

薪割り斧はヘッドが分厚く重いので、最初のうちは意外と扱いが難しい🪓
まだ慣れなくてぎこちないけど、少しずつ感覚を掴んでいきます。  

体を動かしていい汗をかきながら、同時に寒いシーズンに向けて薪が少しずつ準備されていきます。
斧のヘッドが木に当たった瞬間の音が心地よく、薪が割れて放たれる木の香りは素晴らしい。  

これからも薪割りライフを続けていけるのが楽しみです。
たくさん薪割りをして、今後は道具のことや作業の工夫についても少しずつ書いていこうと思います。

It was a very hot and humid day at the end of July 2025, the very peak of summer.
That was the day I finally started something I had always wanted to do: wood splitting.

I found this axe for sale at a local farmers' market.  I had been looking for a  good second-hand wood splitting axe for a long time. When I picked to hold it in my hands, I thought, “This is it! I can finally start wood splitting with this buddy! Woohooo!”. So I decided to grab it   and take it home with me. This was a really exciting  moment.

After my first experience, I realised that having a good control over the axe is actually more difficult than it looks. It really takes practice and experience. Since it was my very first time, I was clumsy and all, but I am pretty sure I’ll learn more and get the hang of it little by little. Guess I have a long way to go but that's also very exciting!

Anyway, wood splitting is a good exercise, good fun. It feels amazing to hear the impact and crack when the axe hits the log and it splits apart. And the smell of fresh wood is just so good. Plus, preparing firewood for the cold season at the same time — that’s just winning, mate!

Righto! So I would like to wrap this article up here for now.
I am really enjoying wood splitting and have already learned lot about it.
I will keep  sharing more along the way.
