On tired days, this is enough. Comforting egg porridge made with 'Shijimi no Megumi'

Good evening!

I'm Mayumi, and I run a souvenir shop right in front of the Twenty-Four Eyes Movie Village.

To be honest, I prefer chatting with customers over selling souvenirs (lol).

In this note, I write about delicious things on Shodoshima, happenings at the shop, and my life standing in the shop 365 days a year.

I would be happy if you could read this to pass the time during your trip to Shodoshima ^^

Lately, when I finish work and get home, I often think, 'I don't want to make anything today...' There are quite a few days like that (lol).

I spend the whole day talking and standing at work. I don't dislike cooking, but on days when I'm tired, I just want to get it done easily.

This is the egg porridge I often make on such days.

At the shop, I am often asked, 'How do you use Shijimi no Megumi?'

I use it for miso soup and mixed rice, but what I make most often is this porridge.

It only takes about 10 minutes if you have rice and eggs, so it really helps me out.

And actually, my use of 'Shijimi no Megumi' increases when summer comes around.

'Make sure you don't get summer fatigue!'

With that feeling, I add it to porridge or add a little bit to tomato juice in the morning.

It might just be a placebo (lol), but this is my summer routine every year 😊

✔ It's 10x concentrated, so a small amount brings out a rich flavor

✔ It goes perfectly with eggs

✔ It's easy to get the flavor right even on busy days

My favorite variations

Depending on your mood that day,

adding these is also recommended.

  • Frozen spinach

  • Pickled plum (umeboshi)

  • Kimchi

  • Cheese

Since you can make these with things already in your fridge, you can enjoy it without getting bored ^^

Days when I'm exhausted after work.

Mornings when I have no appetite.

Days when I just want to take care of my body.

I feel like I often make this porridge on days like those.

For those living far away or those who want to enjoy it at home, we also offer it in our online shop, so please feel free to take a look if you'd like.

Don't push yourself too hard today, just take it easy.

Let's eat something delicious and get through this summer in good health.
