Mom's Off-Duty Trip with Everyone
This weekend, I gathered with 10 friends,
and we made a 2-day, 1-night mom's off-duty trip happen! 🔥✨
These two days
were a valuable time spent
well outside my comfort zone,
so I want to record them.
When people hear 'mom's off-duty' or 'comfort zone',
they might think it's about being away from the kids,
but it's actually completely different. 😂
That was an interesting realization in itself...
1. 2 days and 1 night with 11 people I'd never met
I was invited to an offline meetup for members
I met through an online salon.
It seems some of them had met before,
but for me, it was the first time meeting everyone.
And we stayed overnight.
I was surprised at myself for not being shy. lol
I'm not naturally shy, but
I've always struggled with large groups of women,
so I'm glad I was able to enjoy it properly. 👍
2. Acting as a guide in Umeda despite having a terrible sense of direction
and leading for two days
The other members
came from outside Osaka by plane, bullet train, and night bus,
so I ended up being the guide...
In the end, it was an area of Umeda I knew, so I managed,
but because I have no sense of direction and lack confidence,
I'm usually the type who wants to follow behind,
so I did my best leading! 😂❤️
3. In charge of making takoyaki, which I'm bad at
The Airbnb we rented had a kitchen,
so we decided to each make a local specialty.
I didn't think of takoyaki as a local specialty,
so I thought a takoyaki party was something everyone did together lol
I never expected to be the one in charge! 😂😂😂
Those were the main three things
that made me feel I'd left my comfort zone.
Other than that, I went to look at cosmetics I'm usually not interested in,
and I didn't even know @cosme was in Umeda! 😂😂😂
So, after this 2-day, 1-night mom's off-duty trip,
what I realized is
that because I have regular mom's off-duty time
and occasionally go out for drinks,
I don't actually crave that time.
More than that,
I want to spend the time I have with my children now even more intensely!!
On the other hand, this was my first time leaving them with my husband for an overnight trip.
My last mom's off-duty trip was on a weekday
and I left them with my mother,
so while I don't feel that mom's off-duty time is essential for me,
I did feel that forced father-child time is a good thing.
Because I love spending time with my children so much,
we go out as mother and child too often,
we rarely go out as a family of three,
and they almost never go to the park just the two of them...
They do spend time together at home, but
I want to be more proactive about creating father-child and family time...
I think there was great value in the fact that
11 moms were able to take time off from their children despite various circumstances.
I want to eradicate solo parenting
and make raising children in a group the norm in society.
Not just partners,
but parents, mom friends, nursery schools, babysitters,
anyone is fine—I want to reclaim the natural state of being herd animals
where we don't raise children alone.
I've met many different people
both online and offline,
and broadened my horizons,
but if I could meet someone in the future... I'd love to meet a minimalist mom!
And a 'no-humility-allowed' doting mom!
I'd love to meet people like that
and get excited together.
Minimalist moms are rare,
but I feel like the 'no-humility-allowed' 🚫 vibe
is really starting to permeate among my mom friends!
I want to spread the eradication of solo parenting and the 'no-humility-allowed' 🚫 culture!
