[Essay] Book Report de Factorization

One day, I encountered an impressive book report.

It was by 'Zero no Kami,' a former copywriter whose blog I have recently started visiting.

The way 'Zero no Kami' chooses, uses, and flows their words is incredibly gentle,

and I feel like I can see a dignified line within that calmness.

The book that 'Zero no Kami' introduced at the end,

was the novel 'Kinshu' by Teru Miyamoto, which I first encountered in my teens.

A friend of mine who loves books and is a huge fan of Teru Miyamoto lent it to me,

and since I had just finished reading robust novels like 'Ruten no Umi' (Sea of Flux),

it was a novel that surprised me and drew me in completely.

I also remembered how I managed my allowance, even though I was forbidden from having a part-time job at the time,

to buy 'Kinshu'.

It brought back memories, and a noter I like said they liked it too.

That alone made me strongly wish to 'read Kinshu in one sitting without any interruptions'.

I wished for it intensely.

But it was just during summer vacation, the kids were bored,

and with my husband working from home more often, the house felt noisy,

so it didn't feel like I could immerse myself in a novel at all.

At that time,

Katchi-san reached out with an interesting suggestion.

I would like to solicit book recommendations from everyone. I will choose from them and read them.

Despite being shy and socially awkward,

for some reason, I can ask Katchi-san for favors without hesitation,

so I asked for "Kinshu" without a second thought.

(Last time, I asked for a supportive message in the title section)

And three days later.

Katchi-san faithfully granted my request.

To put it mildly, I was so moved that I wanted to cry.

I was filled with gratitude that someone I have never even met

would grant my selfish request.

After reading their easy-to-understand guide to this unusual novel consisting only of correspondence,

and reading Katchi-san's thoughts on communication,

I was happy enough to cry again.

Hearing the impressions of two people I respect,

I thought about what I was looking for.

And then I realized.

Based on the two of your impressions and my own,

I realized I was trying to factorize my feelings about the novel.

Group each term on the right side based on the common x on the left side.

My impressions + Zero no Kami-san's impressions + Katchi-san's impressions

= Common factor (My individuality + Zero no Kami-san's individuality + Katchi-san's individuality)

I was very happy to know that two people I respect

share the same common factor (x) as I do

regarding a novel I love,

and also to learn that they possess terms (b, cy) different from my own.

It made me very happy.

Even the simple fact of having read the same book

was a very precious experience

in this era where communication is difficult.
